What can you say about the July 18 '08 earthquake prediction?

Would you say it's true? Would you be prepared if ever it does happen? do you believe it will happen?
According to the emails being circulated around, on July 18 the Philippines will have an 8.1 intensity earthquake where a lot of people is said to die. Someone named Mr. Jucelino Nóbrega da Luz (also known as his wrongly spelled name Juseleeno Nobulega DaRoose) who is a Brazilian (born in 1960) is said to have predicted this.

Now i don't know who that person is, i don't think he's famous so i don't know if we should believe him or not. What do you all think about this?

Maybe he is just after publicity that's why he's saying these things? or maybe not? who knows? i think the only thing Filipinos can do now is to pray that this event never happens, ever.
(Dear Lord, i hope it wouldn't come true...)

I really don't believe it. It's just a hoax but you can never be too careful so let's just be cautious about this..

Hi Owstalaga, They cannot be predicted but I placed a discussion recently, it is quite lengthy but explains the safety precautions that should be taken and if the event ever happens it will save lives. There's no way to know if it's true, of course, until July 18. Prophecy is different from prediction, though, and that's the key. No one can predict with any certainty about earthquakes, but things have been prophesied and then happened. I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but what you should be looking for is his credentials. Has he prophesied before and it happened? One web site says yes, but how much do we really know about this man? Another Edgar Cayce we don't need to pay attention to. He was only right about 50% of the time. A man who hears from God, like David Wilkerson - well, we better sit up and pay attention.

oh, i forgot prophecy is different from prediction... haha... they seem quite the same though...
you're right, we should all look at his credentials first before we go a-panicking...^_^ i guess people get apprehensive whenever things like this get around...

I don't believe it if ever that's true, we as Filipino's should be aware with this especially the officials who study about earthquakes. If this prediction is true, the officials should report this to all Filipinos like announcing it in news tv or radio.

Hi owstalaga! I have received that email about the earthquake to happen on July 18 here in our country and personally, I really don't believe in predictions for many have never came true. But it could be that when the predictions were made, people heed the warning and pray even more and maybe that is why some of the predictions didn't come true. So, whatever it is let us not worry too much on it and just keep our faith and pray even more that God will not let it happen.
