I once heard that the economic super powers USA and Japan and communist Block leader USSR would never play a game like cricket . Because , it involves time in multiples of days , sometimes 5 days( test match) and sometimes 1 (ODI) and not hours , and those countries could not afford to a waste that much man days for a game setting aside economic activities .
But , after the advent of the 20-20 version of cricket I think , these countries would think of playing it .
Don't you think like me ?After all there is money to make through this popular game .( If China can be brought to this game , the market will expand multi fold . )

Japan and The U.S.lay baseball. I am not sure we would even want to learn cricket. It may sound arrogant but many would want to see cricket here in the States because it isn't an American game. But in Russia? who knows ,they may play it.

I think the problem is that, with the exception of America, they were never British colonies. And they don't like to remember they were. I think without exception, the rest of the countries that have a passion for the game were part of the glorious Empire at some point.
