My desert rose plant is reviving slowly but surely!

So I have this desert rose plant, which is known locally as "Fu4 Gui4 Hua1". It hasn't flowered for at least 2 months, after I bought it before Chinese New Year this year (february). So it hadn't been doing too well lately, with some leaves turning yellow. But recently, I'm not sure whether it was because I had started watering it with water used to wash my rice, little green leafy shoots have started appearing, even from some branches that had been totally bare of leaves for months! Hooray! Do you have a house plant? How is it doing?

I don't have a house plant. For some reason they die! I do however have several pots with plants in them outside where mother nature helps me take care of them. Glad your plant is coming around....maybe it just needed a rest!

I am not a plant person. However my mum has a 'garden' of plants at the balcony. I think we have one Fu4 Gui4 Hua1 in the collection too. My mum tends to it every morning and night - other than watering them with tap water in the morning and rice water in the evening, she also gives the plants fertilizer.
