Well today as it was nice and cool (82) I decided to do more transplanting of my corn before it got too tall blocking sunshine from my tomatoes. I placed 6 along side my back fence. Now I more than likely will be having the squirrels running along the top of the fence feasting once the ears start to form. but this is one reason for placing them there. Hoping to keep them distratcted from the bigger area of corn I have growing. But with Buster running out back I haven't seen a lot of squirrels. Do you have corn planted? Do you have problems with the squirrels once they form ears? What do you do to remedy or rid the area of them rodents?

No I do not problems with squirrels in this part of town. Petie does not let any foreign animal, bird, or even bug into our yard. He is such a fanatic when it comes to trying to chase the birds out of the bushes. Petie is 6lbs and the bushes are 6 to 7 feet tall that the birds sit in. When Petie sees a bird in the bushes he barks and tries to climb the bushes. I have not gotten a photo of him outside going nuts over the birds in his bushes but I should.

Buster chase them away as well. But he is not outside all the time and the critters still sneak in the gardens. hahahaha!

The little critters know who has a green thumb, didn't you plant your garden for them?

I had no problems with my corn last year and don't expect any this year despite the fact the deer and racoons love them.

Luckily the deer don't raom over the fences.
Buster does a great job keeping the racoons at bay.

I don't have any corn planted but I do have tomatoes and pepper planted in some containers. The squirrels don't seem to be bothering them but a calico cat has found its way to our house and is crawling in the containers and laying down. No matter what I do I can't seem to grow anything....monsoons, droughts, and now stray cats. I'm beginning to think I was cursed by one of those little garden gnomes, lol.

We didn’t plant corn this year. I love corn on the cob It takes up too much room so we decided not to plant it this year. We will buy it from the local farmer market.
We have planted it all other years—we never had any problem with animals eating it- then again our dog pretty much keeps things away.

I was too late to plant corn this year, though I had every intention of doing so. At the moment all my neighbours are cutting and drying theirs. They use the leaves for animal feed over the winter months.
I thought that corn was one of those veg that didn't like transplanting so I'm interested to see that you transplant yours with no problems. Is there anything special you do when transplanting it?

I've transplanted a lot of corn so far. Nothing special other than preparing the area so it is basically weed free.
