Gee this is how my day is going. Ok so I sit down to eat my lunch of chicken tenders and french fries and I get the ketchup for the fries. Well I have a long established rule that you put a small amount of ketchup on your plate then if you use it all then you can have more. The rule was established shen I would find plate after plate with pools of ketchup on them from whichever kid had done it (I only have one kid of my own but used to have a revolving door with "my" church kids coming and going all the time). So here I sit and squirt out a pool of ketchup and of course I didn't need it all. Gee I hate waste.

Fear not, a small overrun of ketchup isn't a hanging offence. I threw away four burger buns today, or rather crumbled them for the birds. We waste too much food don't we. One question though, what is a chicken tender please? Here in the UK we have chicken, and I've heard of tender chicken but never chicken tender. Thank you.

An all white meat piece of chicken fried in a breading. Also called chicken fingers, chicken strips that sort of thing.

You know better than to do that and there are kids in Africa starving for ketchup.. I do the small amount first but my son has to have a huge bunch, more than he ever eats, and then it goes down the drain every time.. Then guess who is complaining that "We are out of Ketchup", So even though he is 27 yrs old, I have to explain it to him everytime, that ketchup doesn't grow on trees..

My son is one of those kids that thinks he needs a cup of ketchup with his food. He is always saying he needs more ketchup even though he has plenty still on his plate. I only give him a small amount to start with too. I try to do like you normally do and add only a small amount at a time.

Ah, but the question remains ...
... will you forgive yourself?
I sure hope so!
I don't like wasting anything either, but I doubt any of us can say that they haven't either taken too much of something or had to throw something away a time or two.
Go easy on yourself (and next time, go easy on the ketchup!).

I hate waste as well, and probably the biggest place I have had to experience it is when I worked in a fast food restaurant. Because of health regulations, we had to throw out a ton of food every night. It made me feel sick; I brought some home every time I closed because I couldn't bear to have that much waste when I knew people were hungry. I wish that there were ways that we could reduce commercial waste as well as private.

I love your discussion. My little granddaughter is always saying I need more ketchup Grandma even before she runs out. I get her to use up every little bit before we squeeze more unto her plate. Have you ever tried those nice hot fries with gravy poured over top and then kitchup squirted over top of that? A added touch is just a sprinkle of vinegar over top of it all. Oh how I love my fries this way. I only ever eat them this way maybe once or twice a year though.
