My dog wont eat dry dog food.she will only eat the canned. And when she does eat the canned she wants to waste about 1/4 of it.
It's starting to get expensive buying canned food. So how can i get her to eat the dry?I have tried leaving it out for a day and she still won't touch it.

Hi dinohe; The response below is a good idea, try to mix the dry with the wet.
Has the dog been taken to the vet? I am thinking that she may have a problem with her teeth possibly.
In any case, leaving the food out for a whole day is not a good idea. be sure that your dog has access to ample clean water at all times and give the dog regular feeding schedules.
It is possible that she doesn't like the type of dry dog food that you are offering.
May I suggest to try http://www.freepettreats.com/index.html
Perhaps you can find a brand of treats to try inexpensively and then hopefully that brand may have dog food as well.
It is hard to find a dry dog food that the dog will like without it costing a small fortune in trial and error.
talk to other people with dogs and see if they will provide you a small sample of the dry dog food that they use to try and get your dog to eat it.
Lastly, try adding a small amount of water to the dry dog food and stir it up. This will soften the hard bits should the food be too hard.
One trick we use on the jack russel when he doesn't go for his dry food at feeding time, is we take a small handful of kernels and toss them up the hall. He chases them, catches them and and then eats it. We do this four or five time. Then he goes straight for his dish and resumes regular eating.
Sometimes, I have found that if we are not paying enough attention to our four legged friend, who really just want to love us and make us happy, they may not eat.
I find with the jack russel, if I get down on his level and give him undivided attention, letting him know he is special and very much loved, he is way happier. He wants to play a lot and Jack Russels are full of energy.
I take days where it is all about him. Where the day is his. I let him take me where he wants to go for a walk. We will go out to places I can take him off leash and when he is scouting about, I am right there with him, checking out what he is checking out.
It is amazing what the dog will do and where he will take me. It is like he wants to show me things that are of interest to him and when I show genuine interest in him, his behavior improves 100%.
try mixing a bit of water or even warm milk to the dry food and see what happens.
PM me and let me know how it works.

Have you tried putting a little grease on it? It can be grease from frying something, or bacon grease. You don't have to put alot on it, just enough where she can smell it and taste it on the food. Dogs like flavorful stuff like that. It may get her interested in eating it. I know the canned stuff is expensive. We feed our dogs the dry stuff, and we'll put grease on it once in awhile as a treat, they like it.

Have you tried mixing dry and wet? Give her a smaller amount. The canned food only is bad for her teeth.
