India beggar has a huge coin collection  | |  60 year old Laxmi recently deposited her earning in an Indian bank, it was a bit more thabn the usual mundane money transfer.

Laxmi handed over 91kg (200lb) of coins - 44 years of hard begging - enabling her to open ana account and qualify for a credit card. Laxmi began begging at the age of 16.
She may have saved as much as 30,000 rupees ($692)
Laxmi saved the coins in iron buckets covered with jute bags at her home in a shanty town near the crossing. She had four buckets of coins in a range of denominations, some minted as far back as 1961 and are now out of date.
"But we will accept those coins as well because she is poor and needs all our support," said Central Bank of India spokesman Shantanu Neogy.
I think this story is fab, all her hard work and she has now been able to put in it a bank, mainly so it does get stolen.
