NO, I do not believe that for a moment.
Jesse Jackson has a long career that a couple of seconds on an open microphone can't destroy.

Jesse Jackson needs to keep is mouth shut, and go some where and sit down ,he does not speak for all blacks, I know he does not speak for me.
People like Jesse Jackson does not think when he speaks.

I understand that but his mistake is not even that original.
I do not believe he claim to talk for all black people anyways.

No, those remarks won't cause him significant harm. He makes money off the ignorance of those that follow him. His followers will likely continue to believe him when he claims they need affirmative action, reparations, extra points on test scores, and other forms of handouts to be equal to white Americans. What will hurt him is the fact that Obama is now proving that such programs are not necessary and that a black man can achieve anything he sets his mind to. Jackson's comments were intended to harm Obama in the hopes that he will lose the presidency causing people to blame his race for the loss. Whether Obama wins or loses, the point has already been proven. Jackson is just trying to salvage his career trying to keep black American dependent on a broken system.

No, I don't think he ruined his career, such as it is these days. Jesse Jackson has always been a controversial figure given to making outrageous statements from time to time and there will be those who will continue to support and follow him no matter what but I don't think he's all that relevant in this year's election to begin with.

This is an interesting question, especially for those of us who do not live in the USA, because we thought Jesse Jackson had retired to a quiet place somewhere far from the centre of American political opinion. For me, he is smarting from the simple fact that another black man has turned the political world on it's head by putting himself in line for a tilt at the White House, and the more you watch and listen to that clip of his comments, the more apparent it is that they were bitter words of envy.
In an ideal Jesse Jackson world, he would have been approached by one of the two parties to run as presidential candidate. Not only has that not happened, but suddenly riding in from the West on his black charger, comes Barack Obama, carrying all before him, and flying the flag for genuine political change, without any hint of doing so on the back of civil rights agitation or thru the door of 'we wuz robbed and this is my right!'
The really sad thing for me was that he should even have thought like that, because it's much the same when we hear a blatantly racist comment by a white person....who then says in their defence that they didn't realise that their comments could be heard. Yes, he should be ashamed of himself, and if there was any chance of a continued career, I think he opened his mouth and shot himself in the foot.....big time.
