I don't understand why bar charges so high?

I don't like going to bars and I haven't been there for quite a long time. Occasionally I read an article via the net and I think nowadays the bars charge so high. In a common bar in Shanghai, the water charges at least USD6 and the alcohol needs at least USD90. A table's minimum cost is USD220. If you book a room, the minimum charge will be USD2764.
I think it's quite expensive and I don't understand why people like going to bars. In my opinion, somewhat it wastes the money and time. And this is already not a luxurious bar.

I am lucky to say that when I was single, I always treated by friends..free drink and free food! I have not tried spending my own money in a bar!
I guess the reason why people do not stop from going there is the recreation, the fun they have and the other stuff they enjoy and for sure!
People can just go there is they have no enough or more than enough income! So, those prices for sure is just a cents to them..LOL!

I also don't drink and don't enjoy a lot! Plus the loud music...It was just the favorite meeting place of my College friend before! Those were the days for me..LOL!

And friend.. honestly i can't leave any comment on this.. as i don't drink and smoke.. but one thing i could understand is, people are not really worried about the cost rise, inflation, and are ready to sacrifice their hard earned earnings for deriving entertainment.

Hi youless! Wow, that is too expensive! Here in our country, it is also expensive but not that expensive as yours. I guess, it cost much higher when the bar is one of those elite, luxurious bars. However, I really don't frequent bars anymore and even when I was younger and single, I really don't frequent them almost everyday just like my friends do before. I do believe it is a waste of money indeed!
