Katie Wilson, president-elect of the School Nutrition Association, told members of the House Education and Labor Committee, says that the School lunch programs are hit by food price hike. This Kind of " Noon-meal" scheme is even going on for a longer time in my Country, especially in Tamilnadu, India, where the poor people who study.. are given free meals.. Now,when the developed nations like US,are facing problems in tackling the situation,.. then surely country like India, which is still in a developing stage..will then have to face the burnt of this more heavily.. http://news.aol.com/business/story/_a/school-lunch-programs-hit-by-food-prices/n20080709124009990023 Lets discuss.

Hi saivenkaat802003! I do agree with the analysis my friend. Our government has the same programs for the poor school children but they only start the feeding program for a few days or weeks but will not maintain such programs after awhile. It is really disheartening when we hear so many poor people going poorer and getting hungry. I just don't understand how our politicians' minds work but it is quite obvious to me that most are protecting their self interests and are busy in enriching their wealth. In fairness with our present President, she is doing her best to uplift our economy but there are so many corrupt officials around her and I am not sure if she knows about it or not. Take care and God Bless!

Many children from poorer families depend on school meals to supplement the foods they have. Without these meals they might not eat all day!

I'm so glad that all my kids are finally out of school. I'm sure that all the countries will be facing this problem. I wish I had some kind of and answer to the food problem. We here in the US are so wasteful. We as a nation have never had any real hard ships since the great depression in the 30s. Individuals are struggling here as I'm sure they are in your country. But what to do.
