Can anyone explain...in the "for dummies" version.. about bandwidth? I have DSL and was looking at something that said something about it will work if you have enough bandwidth. I didn't know I had bandwidth. I thought that was something my provider deals with. Anyone able to explain to me? Thanks!

Hmmm, two discussions about TV shows I never heard of and then WHAM, something I can sink my teeth into. As with many terms used today, what people usually mean when they use the word "bandwidth" is much different than what it really is. But I generally think of it as the room you have to work within, in terms of being online.
I have a mental image of Alice in Wonderland after she drank the "Make-Big Potion" and outgrew her house. The more pictures and sound and other fancy stuff we interact with online the more bandwidth we need, and you are right. It is something that your provider deals with, but it is also a need one considers when choosing a provider.
Here is a link that will tell you where you currently stand with your DSLl:

Have fun!

Makes sense I guess! I wondered why my provider specified my speed and said I could get more. INteresting

I'm a dummy myself when it comes to this, but I think it has to do with your speed, and the amount of work you can do on line at one time. For example, I think one needs a broader bandwidth to listen to on-line radio tha they do to simply send e-mail, and an even broader one still, to play extreme on-line games.
