My 14 month old daughter has never had sleeps during the day since she was a new born. Then about 3 weeks ago, she got a cold which turned into a virus (nothing serious) & since then, she's been having a day time nap after lunch anywhere between 30 mins to 1 1/2 hrs!! I am amazed she's started doing this but I tell you what, I have a happier baby in the afternoons :)

Yes moon! Sleeping well makes babies cheerful, fresh and glad! That also makes the child grow well. For your 14 months old child, about 12 hours of total sleep is necessary in 24 hours. Hope your baby a good health! So please take care and thanks for this nice topic!

Now that my daughter has a sleep in the day, she has a total of about 12.5 hours sleep in a 24 hour period which is good. She is in great health. Thank you for your response

She definately is a happier baby in the afternoons - I no longer have her screaming when I'm trying to cook dinner :)

she must have realized how much better she feels after a nap lol. i love the afternoon nap. my kids gave it up all too soon. my youngest still naps in the afternoon but i have 2 older ones who don't so it isn't much of a break lol. oh well only 5 more years till they are all in school!

I think she has realised that she feels much better after a sleep. She even tells me when she wants to go for a sleep :)
