Parenting is a full time job. You are expected to be on top of things 24/7.
However, as members of the human race you do have limitations. Even the best machine conk out due to heavy usage and because a number of people rely on you it is imperative that you keep yourself well oiled and in shape.
Change in appetite, difficulty in concentration, mood swings, lethargy and general irritability are some signs that may lead to "parenting burnout".
Remember that your well-being is of the outmost importance because this is reflected on your children. Allowing yourself to relax and smell the roses is not a selfish act.
There are a number of ways to catch up much needed rest. First thing to realize that it is necessary for you to do so. So take advantage of the time when your kid's are resting, rest as well.

It is true that being a mother and a housewife is a 24/7 work.........sometimes 24/7 is not enough. You are not allowed to get sick. And at times even you are sick you still have to do some chores-as nobody would do that specially when husband is out for work.Though i only have 2 kids who does most of the cluttering i must admit sometimes i am really exhausted. But having a little sleep or afternoon nap is enough to recharge my body to go on and work the next half of the day.Happy mylotting.

I am somewhat of a tired parent. However, I only have one child who is four years old. He does keep me busy. I stay at home and clean and cook. My husband works everyday. I believe it is a tiring job being a mother whether you work outside of the home or not. I do agree that taking a nap or resting every day is a good way to recuperate after a stressful day with a child or children. Good luck!

Great
You have a plenty of time for him.
That is true, even you have only one, you can get tired with him since kid's are most active than us, so one of the best way to regain or charge our self is to take advantage having some rest while they are resting.Have a nice day.

I can say that i am an exhausted parent... since i go to work everyday... and after that i pick up my child from her grandparents'... and take care of her by myself... ever since my husband left to work abroad two months ago... i never had the chance to go watch a movie by myself... because i kept thinking of my baby and that i have to take care of her... but i am planning to go out againg this coming weekend... i will just have to talk to my in-laws... that i will leave my baby with them for a few hours this saturday... just so i can have my long overdue alone time...

Good advice given here to relax while they are sleeping but taking it is another thing when you are a single parent, who is also working, trying to run a house and being a parent too. I love it though and wouldn't change it for the world, but yes I get tired at times and will relax back on the chores to have a rest. It is one of the most rewarding jobs beinga parent but one I am tired I do find I really don't want to play shops or give piggy backs and that is hard hard for a four year old to understand eh! Parent is really the number one job that we may consider daring, exhausting and needs a lot of patience. Raising 6 kids is not an easy task for me. I need to be very industrious, keep myself always in good shape. Taking a leave from the job is impossible but the happiness being with them, seeing them grows as good persons is already an achievement.

We can secure the help of our nanny or family members ( if we have ) in taking care of our kid's for a few minutes so that we can get that uninterrupted shut eye. We can use ear plugs if necessary to drown out the noise. Sweet dreams.
