Separation anxiety is pitiful to watch isn't it? My daughter, 13 months cries. My son is fine though. He knows I will come back.

I have no kids yet, but i get ur point, my niece (2 years old) also crying when she sees her grandma leaves, and i think that's because her grandma is the one who took care of her since she was a baby, so i think she has a really strong bondage with her grandma and always want to be with her grandma, maybe she feels secure and so loved by her grandma and she doesn't want to lose it :)

Most of my kids are fine with leaving me, but it depends on the situation. My daughter is a bit sensative, and aprehensive. Last year when kindergarten began she did cry at first out of apprehension. But on that first morning when the bus came she was nothing but smiles.
If I were to drop them off at a sitters house for the first time, they may be a bit apprehensive, but so long as they are being treated properly by the sitter, I shouldn't have a problem leaving them after day 2.
