When does 'humour' become 'joke' & vice versa

Since we have 'humour' amongst the interest categories, but the guidelines tell us DO NOT post jokes to start a discussion, where is that line drawn between the two? I have typed 'joke' into the myLot search and there are quite a few discussions, several of which are basically 'stand-up comedian' type jokes.
