Helium debates

I was just doing some rating, and it seemed like there were a lot more debates than usual. I found myself skipping most of them because either I had no opinion, or I couldn't decide. Some of the topics seem pretty trivial (Huggies or Pampers) and others offer two options, and I don't think either one is right.
What do you think of the debates? Do you skip them when you rate, or do you vote? Do you write to debate titles?

I quite enjoy taking part in some of the debates, when it is something I have a strong opinion on or know about, but I agree with yout that not all of them can be voted on. In some of the debates I think neither or both the options could be true.
I notice that some of the questions asked in debates are not even written in good English.
One of my first debate articles was bought, published and paid for. It was completely unexpected as I had never sold a Helium article before, and it made me quite proud. The article is not even rated number one in the debate.

Congratulations on having your article sold! I've yet to experience that. I agree that the wording of some titles is awkward, which is reflected in some of the articles I've rated, ones in which the authors didn't even really address the title- at least as I read it- they may have read something different, which means the title was poorly written.

I dont find the rating too boring Bugsey, it can be quite amusing to see some of the worst efforts.
I've only recently started visiting the community forum at Helium - now I seem to spend too much time reading it when I should be rating articles!

yes I have found some of the debate topics rather hard to choose a side and often skip them as well. I only vote if it is something that I can easily identify with. When I first joined I kept voting for the side that I didn't want to write for, I don't know why but the wordings is a bit strange at times and can be open to various interpretations. I have tried writing to them in the past however they require a certain style of writing. This is one of my best debate articles

Excellent article. I can see why it is rated so well. I especially like the statement about how it has 'sucked the life out of today's youngsters.' I admit, my son watches TV, but only certain things, like the Wiggles and Curious George. I make sure not to let him watch much, 30 minutes a day at the most. He does not and will not have computer games or video games. I despise those, especially the ones targeted at young children and even babies. Those companies should be ashamed of themselves.
Here is my only debate article. Some say it sounds cynical, but it's the truth- as I see it, anyway.

I'm fairly new to Helium, so I haven't written much.
I've been hesitant to write to debate titles simply because some of the debates are either too trivial (i.e., diapers) or are on subjects that I don't really wish to address in my writing for one reason or another.

I agree, some topics I don't want to write on or even express an opinion on.
