My computer is set up in the new addition to the old part of the house. It's one story and the roof isn't completely closed off right so animals can go between the eaves (I think that's what I want to say) and crawl between the outer roof and the ceiling. Well the other night there was a lot of commotion, the dog was barking, cats were screaming and something was running on the roof. It all calmed down but one of the cats is still missing...well, I think I know where it is now.... It's hot, it's been a couple days, and it smells really bad right here. There is no way to get up in there to get it out. It's disgusting. I hope it isn't the cat because he was one of the sweetest ones we have but...missing cat, dead animal smell...I doubt it's a coincidence. So what do you do when something is dead in your walls or ceiling? Does the smell go away quickly? This is so disgusting and annoying...it's about as bad as when the skunk sprayed and died next to the house last year.

I can't say that I have ever had that problem but I think I would get someone up there to remove the remains. It sounds really unhealthy and will attract more vermin.

Unhealthy and gross but there's no way in without tearing apart the roof or ceiling.

LOL...I happen to have a skinny 5 year old! It's hard to explain, you know how a roof has that hangover around the edges, well ours isn't finished on the underside. So where the wall comes up it stops under the roof beams since that's where the over hang needs to be finished. Basically it's just the normal space a roof has between the outer roof and the inside ceilings of the house only ours isn't closed off on the outside.

Oh my . Skunk is so much of a bad smell and I am sorry . Hopefully , you can do some research and find away to get rid of the animal . Wonder where the cats went , cats always come back , never worry . I am one who gets sick over smells , so I feel bad . My mom is staying with me a bit while she gets work down on the house , and she brought her dog , and all its puppies . There is 6 dogs in all right now at my house . I am getting sick from their smell , and bathroom mess , it is so hard cleaning afer them all . Gotta tough this one out

Wow that sounds pretty aweful. Luckily all we need to worry about down here in Florida are the rascally lizards and palmetto bugs getting into the house. The bees seem to be out more this year than recent years but I think that is something that is felt all across the country... hope you can work all that out... nothing worse than trying to write on myLot when you have some smell taking your mind of things.
