do you think it's child abuse to smoke in the house when you have kids?

I think i is, ecause you are exposing them to toxic chemical they are not asking for. I also think it's child abuse to drink enough that it changes your behaviour, inron o your children, causing you to trea them differently because you're UNDER THE INLUENCE, so to speak. Drinking is not second hand unless a person's behaviour is alered, but smoking created second hand smoke that can hardm others.

I am a smoker... yuck, I know! I am in the process of kicking this horrible habit... I have a three-year-old daughter in the home, so I do smoke outside and never in the car. I have no intentions of doing to her what I have done to myself over the years.

I would like for her to remain smoke-free throughout her life... but that will have to be her decision, I will not force it on her without her knowledge by her inhaling my secondhand smoke!


Children of smokers experience a wide variety of acute and chronic health risks:

* Increased instances of disease and hospitalization
* Increased risk of premature death
* Increased medical expenses
* Interference with growth and development
* Hindered quality of life

I wouldn't consider it child abuse to smoke in the house. It's a personal choice that may not be a good choice but I sure don't consider it abuse. In my mind, child abuse is physically inflicting pain on a child or annoying them emotionally. I smoked in the house when our kids were growing up and they were fine. I won't smoke inside our kid's homes because they don't want the smell in the house. I respect their wishes and go outside. Second hand smoke is not good but I still don't consider it abuse. I might get bashed for this comment...lol
