I am always on two minds whether to call up a person or just plain sms him/her. Sometimes I feel people may take offends if I just sms them and not speak to them directly. What is your take on this one? It is considered okay to sms somebody instead of calling them up or use strictly use only the traditional method?

It depends. If it's not something so urgent then I would use the sms. It depends on the person and my mood too. Even if there's person needs something urgent from me and I don't feel like talking to him or her, I would just send an sms. However, for cellphone numbers not registered on my phone, I would really prefer that they send me an sms as I don't like picking up the phone to talk to strangers.

Sorry typo. I intended to write "Even if this person needs something urgent from me and I don't feel like talking to him or her..."

I think with a phone call it's much more personal. It really depends who it is calling me and what they want. Some people will txt me for things that would be so much easier done through email or the phone call, so that kind of irks me. But if it's just a quick short hi it's a nice way to tell someone you're thinking of them without getting wrapped up in a 2 hour phone conversation.

I prefer calling than sms.Comparing the charge calling is much cheaper that sms.Say for example i'll call my husband to get some milk and cat food. The charge will be something like one fourth of the total cost when i text him.Another thing is that when i call i can add some more and maybe asked my husband what time he'll be home, sort of....that will cost me the same amount as one sms.I still have the chance to hear his voice

If the message is really urgent, I do phone calls. Coz sometimes the other party doesn't have load to reply to your message. And, sometimes it takes time to the receiver of the message to reply. But if the message is not that urgent, i just send a text message. A lot cheaper, that is. LOL!

i do prefer to sms then to make phone call.. if not that amount need to say then sms can say it all.. I think these days just a sms is acceptable, and think maybe most prefer it, because many people lead a busy life, and at least with a sms can take when able to.. Personally i love to receive a sms from someone

I sometimes use the sms to find out if it is the right time to talk. Other wise choosing between an sms and calling up a person depends on the nature of what I would like to convey. If it is hort then nothing like an sms. But if there is more to be said there is nothing like making a call. A call ceertainly adds that personal touch though.

If it's not necessary, I prefer to send SMS to others so that they don't have to pay for the calling bills. Besides, I am not sure whether they are busy or not when I am calling them. I don't want to be bothering. SMS will be a considerate method. I love China

Dear friend, There are times when I could only talk and only through talking I could able convey certain matters. Whereas sms is done mostly for greetings and reminders. Mostly if a matter is clear and solid and no answer is required very soon or not much urgent to say I would sms it. Pictures and vedios are too send and phone call is also done where is mostly needed.

Phone calls is better since you can really talk to someone properly and that he will understand clearly what you ant to say. Sometimes sms can be misunderstood.

hello friend,it is a interesting question.Usually,i prefer sending sms than phone call.If there is no important things to do,i will only send a sms to my friends or families due to cheap message fees.Of course, if there is a emergency,i will have a phone call. have a good day.lol

I definitely prefer to text message over calling someone on the phone. I'm not much of a talker, which is weird since I used to talk on the phone so often when I was growing up! I'd much rather text and get straight to the point. It's a good thing that I have unlimited text messaging on my phone plan because I go through a ton of texts each month!

Calling a person really means some important business. Even if its personal, its always something important you want to discuss about. sms is a great way of notification. the name itself suggests that if you just have a short message to send across, use this service
