The past couple nights we've had tornado warnings. Yesterday we didnt know there was a warning out but we saw the "cool" clouds and my cousin says looks like a tornado cloud, so we didnt go riding but we did lay on the lawn and watch the clouds. Tonight we had it again so...we watch a movie. Mean while a friend calls and freaks because theres tornado warnings. My mom was like its just warning to be careful you have a basement if you are that worried go downstairs. What do you do?

I am always prepared. I have a bag with extra clothes, food and water by the trapdoor to the basement. If there are warnings, I open the door and keep my kids close, that way if we have to go there, then we are ready. Everyone puts shoes on and I listen to the news and for town sirens.

Wow, I cannot imagine that. All the towns around where I live have them. I guess it is because we are usually under a warning in this part of the state.

I think id have been more worried about it if it had been something we had experienced before..but this is the first time in my 25 years alive that I've even been aware theres a warning and SEEN the freaky clouds.

I have not been to the basement in a few years for a tornado warning. I was at work last year and had to take my clients to a storm shelter. Mostly I just watch when there is a warning.

I honestly other than going to the basement (which we didnt do) i wasnt sure what we are supposed to do in that situation because I've never been in it. Are they scary?

Sometimes they can be scary. I think like many people who responded, it is good to have emergency supplies if the power goes out. A battery powered weather radio, fully charged cell phone, things that can be eaten cold and a non electric source of light. I got a wind up halogen flashlight for $7.50 at Wal Mart.

Sounds like all the stuff I keep for winter supplies if I'm snowed in or the power is out!

I don't wanna watch it if there's a tornado. I don't want to get killed

it never even really built up here there was really really neat swirling clouds but nothing ever developed or even touched down we just ended up with an awesome thunderstorm.
