You could make it a movie party, maybe. You and your husband could be the ushers and turn your tv room into a movie theater, your kitchen into a concession stand. The kids would use credits they earned by doing dumb stuff like the craziest dance or worst karaoke. Or just have the treats for free. Offer rice krispies treats, birthday cake and ice cream, candy, popcorn, etc. Have nightlights in the tv room so it's not totally dark but kind of imitates a theater. Stuff like that. Or dinner and a movie with you guys as waiters. Or you can take her out to a really upscale, fancy restaurant--my mom did that for me and I'll never forget the experience, it was great. She had to tell me which fork to use for what! She took me to a theater production one birthday, an opera at another (got to dress up in a gown, etc.) and those birthdays I'll always remember, while I have no idea what presents I got for the other years!

Perhaps you can have a debut party with 18 candles.Invite all her friends, your relatives and make some surprises to make it memorable.

I turned 18 at the tur of the millenium, so we combined the two. We celebrated all month. I was born on January 30th. We dind't do anything really bi, just a birthday party with family at one of my faourie restaurants. Not liking crowds too much, I enjoyed the smaller celebation beter than a big party with too many people to try and deal with.

I think, one option could be take your daughter's suggestions and ideas regarding celebration, if you wish to give her a surpise, it is another matter. You may arrange a movie tickets for her, may arrange flowers for early in the morning. May take her to a lavish dinner in a good resturant of her choice.
