Should I buy a new computer? |
|
I think it's finally time to buy a new computer, or at least a less used one. My old computer is dying slowly. It tends to freeze up, often when I am in the middle of work or posting. Today it froze as I was selecting questions to answer on Mylot and posting in my electronic journal. It deleted the entry so I needed to start again. Also, I have trouble getting it to download things I need, such as templates from Microsoft. This is becoming a big issue for me as all of you know all of my money, except for the money from the government, comes from writing on the internet. If my computer breaks down I will have no money at all. Again, except for what comes from the government and my parents. Lord knows I don't want to go back to asking them for money. Been there, done that, moved on. The only way I'm going to get a new computer anytime soon is to go into further debt with my computer guy which is the last thing I need. However, if the computer dies completely while I am waiting to get money I get no money. It's a perfect catch 22 and I am stuck in the middle of it. What would you all do if you were in my situation? Bite the bullet and have more debt or pray that the computer survives until you get money?

The other thing is you can in some stores put in on a lay away plan or pay monthly installments, however since I am Canadian it may be different where you are at.......

3. karagala (234) | 3 months ago | If I were in the same situation, I'd have it repaired first or upgrading would cost less than buying the whole computer. It really depends. If it only needs more memory then I'll add another memory. Do some tweaks. Clean it up with antivirus and get myslelf some optimizer softwares. I must ask more than one computer guys their opinion and then see which side is more convincing. Buying a new one is a last option...and when I finally decide that I need a new one, I'll sell those computer parts at a lower price, of course, than new ones. Then I can add the money to my payment for the new computer.

4. shooie (3306) | 3 months ago | Make sure you save everything and if you have done a reformat and that didn't help well you can bite the bullet and go into debt but I don't recommend that. We have internet but if we have probs with getting things paid internet and dish tv are the first to go. Only you alone can decide which is the best route for you. I personally would save up for one or wait until the money I am waiting for comes in. I don't want to be in debt for a computer.

cripfemme (3110) | 3 months ago | I understand about cable and internet not being vital to most people. However, if I didn't have the internet I would have no money. All of my jobs and pocket money are internet related. The only other money I get is a government check once a month. That doesn't work to buy all the things I need.
