There has been some confusion in here, and some posts made under the incorrect umbrella of "Job Corps". I'm going to clarify, and then offer a forum to discuss "Green Job Corps" JOB CORPS - An OPTIONAL program to assist at-risk youth with employment and training. Offers housing and monetary support for youth who meet income requirements. VOLUNTARY, no plans to change that. GREEN JOB CORPS: The name for Obama's initiative to mandate volunteerism for high school and college students. Increasing available Americorps slots from 75,000 to 250,000. These are two TOTALLY separate programs!! What are your thoughts about Green Job Corps? Personally, I support it. I have seen some objections to mandatory community service because it is socialist in nature, but several of our cornerstone programs in the United States are socialist in nature. If you have any thoughts, please add them here! (I don't give negative ratings)

The "Green Job Corps" is related to Americorps, so I believe that's why he chose the name... not sure though!
