If not GMA, who would you place as the president? email this discussion to a friend?

Personally, I do not really know who I will place instead of GMA, there are many people who are capable, but who can be trusted? I'm just tired of all the lies the government has. Who can be the person that we can trust that will place the progress and the improvement of the country as his/her top priority rather than just gaining some wealth. sad

When I first became a voter, well I did vote for GMA. I even prayed to the heavens that may the best president win. But I guess I have been wrong.
I have to admit I am not politically mature, maybe until now.
But since GMA's term would be over in the next years, maybe it's time to watch who would be running for president, for I guess, we are only choosing from actual candidates. Even us, we can hardly think what makes an ideal president and who's going to personify it.
Right now, I would say I'm thinking of Manny Villar. A boy from Tondo, who now is among the richest businessmen in the country. And his motto being the Sipag at Tiyaga. A story of rags to riches. I would love to think he can do sort of things to this country. From being a poor to a successful nation. But this is just my thoughts.
I would love to hear from others too.

I too don't know enough about the politics of the country, but I do know that we need to do something with what's happening to us. For me right now I don't really know who I will support for president, I'm thinking of Chiz, but I really don't know about him, only his skill in speaking. But Villar is not a bad choice either, I think that the next president should be someone educated but did not come from a rich family. SOmeone who will think that he or she has enough and would just like to help the others. I just hope that it's possible.. happy

I want somebody who is a nationalist and would consider the country first brfore anything else.

I want that president to be honest and true to his words. he must not be afraid to tell us what really ails this country and ask for our help! I think we just need somebody to spell out what we will do and i think we will do it if it is for the country and the future of our kids.

I want a president who really will serve the people and will not make his needs and wants a priority.

I want a president who listens and at the same time decisive.

I want a president who have guts to fight the foreign forces who bullies us up until now.

I hope we can convince Wigberto tanada to run for president...

I whole heartedly agree with you on what you've posted. The best candidate for the presidency would be someone who really loves this country, someone who will not be satisfied in seeing his or her mother country down in economic problems, military problems and everything else. Yeah, I just wish that's true, a president who knows how to humble him or herself to the people he or she is serving. A president who is transparent. A president who will stand up and fight for what we deserve.

BTW, who is Wigberto Tanada? Sorry I don't know him or her.

THanks for the response!

He is the son of lorenzo tanada, a nationalist and waas one of our greatest senators. Wigbeto is a congressman, i think from bicol. i am not sure if he ran last election. what i know is that he is a good man.

I tried searching on yahoo about Wigberto Tanada and I had information about his father. He is living the legacy of the name of his father, I do hope that the country will have the oppurtunity to be led by this kind of people. Thanks!thumbup

I don't trust the present crop of presidentiables. Lacson is just too spooky owing from his military background and the questions about the Kuratong Baleleng rubout case. Noli De Castro is not qualified to handle the job. Bayani Fernando, Manny Villar and Loren Legarda are publicity hogs - I cringe at the thought that if one of them becomes president, we'd still be seeing either of them on tv doing a laundry bar commercial, (yikes! how cheap). Jojo Binay, Erap or any of the Estradas, no way. Mar Roxas is way too arrogant, that even his partymates from Liberal Party sometimes get turned off. In fact, I don't trust any pro-GMA and any opposition candidate. They are all in cahoots with one another (that's why Allan Cayetano and Jamby Madrigal have been so suspiciously quiet these past few months). We need a fresh face. No pro-GMA, no pro-opposition, no showbiz personalities, no religious personalities, and please, nobody from the media or sports.

Everlasting's suggestion of Bobby Tanada seems interesting. He was one of the few who stood out during the Senate deliberations on the US military bases. Somebody with a business/economic background would be a good candidate too, like PLDT's Manny V Pangilinan, because we need an economist to create the right business climate for the country. The only politician who seems untainted by corruption is Ate Shawie's other half, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan - he's not pro-GMA but he's also not identified with the united opposition.

you have a really good point there! how could i forget sen. kiko pangilinan! yeah id also vote for him. there was this time i was in rustan's fresh doing some quick shopping when he, together with 2-3 bodyguards, came in. he looked like he was in a hurry and all he went to get was diapers! that impressed me a lot. com'on, honestly if i were a senator of his status, i wouldve asked one of my bodyguards to get it for me. but him, he didnt. he went in, asked where the diaper section is, went there straight got an item and went to the cashier. he's so down to earth.

if i would choose between him and mar roxas, yeah id choose him.

hi spoiledbrat, thanks for the response. I agree with Sen. Kiko, all that I've seen about him was him doing his work and remaining true to his family. Come to think of it, he doesn't need to be corrupt to have money, and he is connected to a face people look to as a person of integrity. I Agree in having a fresh face in politics, someone who doesn't have any affiliation, because what happens to day is just like two people having a game of tug-o-war. One wanting to outpower the other, I do hope that they'll just focus on what they are supposed to do rather than outshining the other. angry

that's such a funny picture of GMA! for me, i believe GMA is truly brilliant! why? try tracing back the news for the past 6 months. its cover up after cover after cover up! where is the zte deal now? its hardly even mentioned! it died down after replacing it with the rice shortage! then the meralco take over, then now the fare hikes! she truly is great in covering up!

for me, i know this will sound brutal and somewhat offensive, but i wanted for ping lacson to be president last presidential elections. why? coz i know he can teach us filipinos some discipline. i see him as the kind of guy who doesnt really care about his image as long as he knows what he's doing will bring good to the community/country.

but now, id like for mar roxas to be president. he may not be as experienced as the other government officials, but when the next presidential elections come, i believe he will be just right for the position.

its great to see filipinos here! -- im new. hope we could be friends:)

lol Great comment fengshui, I agree with that, GMA is using her intellect in covering up her blunders. Yeah, after that big controversy of the ZTE scandal, we just had problems upon problems. Now the people would rather worry about how they will eat or how will their budget fit their needs than worrying about their president involved in a scam. Last presidential election I was not yet entitled to vote, but really I was confused on who to vote during that time, but it was certainly not GMA, thankfully I was not obliged to vote so I didn't really vote for someone I did not really had confidence in, maybe next election, I'll really be wise in my voting.

Sure we can be friends here! There are many filipinos here on my lot! Happy Mylotting!thumbup

Well you're right in there. There is really no one right now who is capable of running the government competently. I think it would take ages before we can really find one that will stand and work out for the benefit of us Filipinos. All leaders both from admin and opposition are just not trustworthy to stay in there. That is why up until now I am at a lost who am I going to suppport.

Hi rsa. I agree that no one can really be trusted within the current affiliations in politics. 2010 is coming up fast and I do hope that the person that's going to win is deserving for that position. Not just someone who seeks power or anything else that is not within the direction of helping the state of the country and it's people. sad

is there? i think there are a lot who can take her place but i think they are all the same. TRAPO. almost all the politician are being good just for the sake of their selves. promises promises during running but when they are already seated they no longer care what they promise to the people. they make sure their pockets are full while most of the Filipino people are hungry.

myLot reputation of 78/100. jessej9 (280)   ranked 90 out of 2,290 in philippines  1 month ago

yeah, that's the problem, we can never really see who can be trusted because once they get into the seats of power, then they show their true colors. angry But I believe that somewhere in the country, there stands a person who can really change what's happening in the government. happy

In my opinion, I always like Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago to be the President. She has a very strong conviction on all her programs and beliefs. She doesn't hesitate to fight anyone if needed. Senator Miriam has a wide-range of ideas and is very smart at that.

hi nengs, thanks for the response. Well who ever will come in the seat, I do hope that he or she will really do his or her job of taking leadership of the country for the country and not for him or herself!thumbup
