A Non Hate Crime

This past weekend a man was beaten severely by a group (6) of young men. It came out a couple of days later that the young men were Blacks. The man went after them after they were fondling his 12 year old daughter. What is most interesting about this story is the lack of coverage. This happened in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota and the news media failed to report the color of the attackers. To me this is one more case of a news media that is sanitizing the news for us. If this had been a group of white men (Duke Lacrosse Players) it would have been National News for Days. We would have had all the big political leaders and hate mongers all over this case. But it involves a Black committing a crime and we don't want to cause more problems. These young men will not be charged with a hate crime because a minority can not be charged with a hate crime, only white men can. Can you imagine the out cry if Senator McCain were to speak out and call for the police to take swift action. If he were to call the Whites to take to the streets in protest. He would be finished as a public servant. But if Senator Obama said the same thing if the young men were white he would be considered a hero and true leader. We have to wake up in this country and demand justice and for all. When a Rev. Jackson or Sharpton starts to fan the flames of hate they need to be called to task on it and when a crime is committed against society Justice needs to be fair, equal and just.
