Columnist Robert Novak wrote that reports are swirling around the McCain campaign that he may announce his Vice President pick this week while opponent Barack Obama is overseas. http://www.nysun.com/national/report-mccain-could-choose-vice-president-this/82349/ There is no word on who it may be but there has been a lot of speculation about former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Hardball's Chris Matthews said tonight on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he believes the one McCain would LIKE to pick is former Pa. Governor and Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge although McCain had pretty much ruled out choosing Ridge on Hardball several months ago because Ridge is pro-choice. Since the announcement may come sooner than any of us expected, quick, get your predictions in. Who will it be? Annie

i dont plan on voting for his ticket no matter who he picks, however, my guess would be former governor Mitt Romney. Romney has a very good economic background and understands the economy from what I understand. McCain needs someone who can make up for his weakness in t his area. he is apperaing very much like a one issue candidate.

I'm sure not voting for his ticket either! He sure is appearing to be a one issue candidate and the worst part (for him) is he's losing credibility in that one issue as well, at least in my opinion. Annie

Maybe he could choose the mayor of my city to be his Vice President, then McCain will appear smarter than he is. I live in Toledo, Ohio and we are the city whose mayor was able to get into Trivial Pursuit. I honestly don't know if I care who his VP mate is because I still have my fingers crossed that he will NOT win!

So do I, I've had my fingers crossed so long I'm getting cramps in my hand, not to mention it's really affecting my typing! I wonder if he'd be allowed to pick Bush as VP, then he'd be guaranteed to be a LITTLE bit smarter. Seriously, in all honesty I can't think of who McCain could pick that would help him or even wouldn't hurt him. He can't pick a fellow geezer, for obvious reasons but if he picks somebody considerably younger that would only make his age more pronounced. If he picks someone super conservative that will cost him any moderate votes he may have gotten but if he picks someone more moderate he'll lose the right for sure. He's already limited himself by stating he'd never pick a VP who is pro-choice, so if he were to do that he'd really open himself up to accusations of major-league flip-flopping as well as alienating the religious right. Poor guy, what a mess he's in...I LOVE IT! Annie

I think John must pick a paterner who can make up for his weakness in economic issues. Only through that can he defeat Barack, who has a great charisma.
