What was the scariest moment of your pregnancy? |
|
Did you have one moment in your pregnancy where you felt your baby might not be OK?
I was watching figure skating when I was eight months pregnant during the last Olympics. My daughter summersaulted in my belly for thirty minutes listening to the music. I think she could actually hear it!
She was moving around so much, you could see shapes on the front of my stomach where she was poking her hands and feet out and turning. I didn't even know babies did that kind of stuff.
Then she got spooky quiet and stopped moving around. At first I didn't notice, cause my body felt so peaceful. Then it hit me all of a sudden that she wasn't moving anymore.
And that was weird cause she never ever stopped moving during the last few months of my pregnancy.
Then I freakout and started rubbing my belly and trying to get her to wake up. I kept saying her name, over and over again and crying. In my heart it felt as if something were wrong.
My spouse kept saying, "It'll be fine! She's just sleeping"
I have never been so scared in my life.
After about an hour she woke up and started moving again. I guess she was really tired from all the movement.
If I had to do it all over again, I would have jumped in the car and gone to the emergency room.

1. moonchild1au (843) | 1 year ago | I know this sounds silly but when I went for my 12 week scan, I was actually scared there would be no baby there & that all the tests I'd done were false positives. I was so relieved when we saw a baby on the monitor

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | Alright now! That's just spooky. I didn't want to say anything, but that was my first big scare!
I mean really. I'm totally serious.
I did home pregnancy tests. And then they scheduled me like 8 weeks from the time I found out, cause there was some big back log of new pregnant patients.
So I had to wait two months for official doctor's confirmation.
And during that time, I started spotting and I was sure that I must have been wrong.
You know how early pregnancy goes.
But the good part about waiting a little longer was that they gave me an ultra sound almost right away.
I still have the pics.
She was the most perfect miniature sized baby I'd ever seen.
I think it was about three months or so into the pregnancy.
I called her my little vanilla bean! But I could totally see her legs and arms and tiny hands.
I fell in love instantly!
Thanks for sharing your baby story. Drop by anytime.

jewel76 (1709) | 1 year ago | Yup..been there, done that, as well LOL I was so scared i wasn't really pregnant, and that nothing but an empty uterus would show up on the ultrasound..when i actually saw our baby, and, actually saw him moving, tears just rolled out of my eyes...I was really pregnant!!

liquorice (1744) | 1 year ago | Yes, me too! I think that it's so difficult to actually believe that there's this living being inside you (especially the first time around I guess), until you actually see the evidence with your own eyes. That's what makes the first scan so amazing in my opinion.

2. mynameismine (558) | 1 year ago | With my first pregnancy I had two major scares, well three. The first was when I was getting ready to take a shower and looked down and saw the floor covered in blood (found out the next morning in the hospital I had a complete previa that was 100% with no chance of moving). Which meant I was on complete bedrest cause just standing up could cause my placenta to tear and kill me and the baby within minutes.
The next was when I had I had to get a transfusion cause I had started bleeding (yeah, I got up and walked to the bathroom). I was on my second unit and my son's heart rate went up so high they couldn't keep track of it. They called my husband and told him what was happening but not to rush cause there was nothing he could do and it would be over by time he got here. They were ready to do an emergency C-section when his heart rate came down as quickly as it went up.
The last scare he gave me for a few years was when he was delivered. He was very small and it took a few seconds (the very longest) for him to start breathing.
Sixteen + years later and I'm still jumpy with that kids health LOL.

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | Wow! I was holding my breath through your entire baby story. Very riveting.
I'm just floored at the things you went through to bring your child into the world.
I had to get over my fear of bleeding and needles and pain just to give birth.
But that was no problem, cause I wasn't doing it for me. I was doing that for her! And she was totally worth it!
Moms are the most amazing people, don't you think?!!!

|
liquorice (1744) | 1 year ago | Wow, that would be so scary, and frustrating to have to be in bed the whole time, although obviously worth it... I'm so glad you and your son got through it ok in the end!
Beautyqueen, I also have a phobia of needles, and pregnancy didn't actually cure that for me, lol! It was also one reason (amongst others) why I didn't want an epidural or any other drugs for the pain.

Ravenladyj (17951) | 1 year ago | Well during the preg of my third child there were a few scarey moments...being hospitalized, massive bleeding episodes, the pain etc etc..but the ULTIMATE scariest thing was going into labour at six months and everything that came with delivering him that night..

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | Wow! Going into labor that early must have been very scary.

4. ellie333 (6792) | 1 year ago | Hi Beautyqueen, Yes I guess that iceskatin had worn her out bless and there you were trying to wake her up again LOL. I guess we all have moments like that when we are pregnant. I can't remember a really scary one though for me in that way, but us mums have all sorts of fears and emotions at that time and I can remember proding my tummy myself to wake them up if I had felt them move for a while just to make sure. Ellie:D

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | It was the weirdest thing. I mean there was no movement inside me. And that was totally odd for her.
She was always bobbing around and making herself known. But on that one occasion she was just plain tired out!
Once when I went to roll over onto my side, she refused to roll with me, cause that would have changed her position.
Instead she stayed planted in her spot inside me and when I rolled over, I saw an impression of a knee and this huge bulge that made my tummy look all mishapen!
It was too weird!
She was stubborn even then.

5. vicneedscoffee (870) | 1 year ago | My scary moment came at 8 and a half months. I was on my way to work one morning and there was a fair bit of snow on the ground. The sun hadn't come up yet, but it was just getting a little light. Ahead of me I see a gray car stopped on a bridge with no lights on. By the time I saw it, it was too late. I tried to stop and avoid it but I just slid in the snow and totaled my car on the back end of the other car. It scared the hell out of me, but I was very lucky and everything was fine.

6. Goodie123 (7548) | 1 year ago | Between my first two children I suffered 4 miscarriages. When my second son was born I was told I would never fall pregnant again. Well I did, and at about 4 months starting bleeding. That really freaked me out. When I was 7 months pregnant I went into labour. So I freaking out because my baby was too early. My daughter was born 4 lbs 12 ounces. Today she is a nurse. She was perfect when she was born, only placed in an incubator for the warmth.

7. gemini_rose (10121) | 1 year ago | In my last pregnancy there were many, so many that I lose count. At the time I believed that I was fighting to keep her in me and she was fighting to stay in there. I started in labour at 31 weeks, but they managed to stop it, then I developed a condition called polyhydramnios that meant I had too much fluid. This meant that I was at constant risk of going into labour at any given minute.
I never felt her move inside me and so had to go up the hospital on a regular basis to be monitored and scanned, and then when I finally went into labour she released her bowels in me and so it was a scary time hoping that she did not inhale, she battled through it all and made it I am glad to say!

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | Do you think it was maybe food poisoning and not just morning sickness?
Once I got food poisoning and did the non-stop vomit thing for two days.
I was so very weak.
| |
|
|
bombshell (5401) | 1 year ago | hello again.no! it was not a food poisoning coz if smell something thats the time i cannot stop vomitting but my Dr. said its normal and there are women like that my friend is worst than my experienced coz from beginnig till 9 moths she always vomitting.
| |
|
|
beautyqueen26 (9134) | 1 year ago | I'm happy to hear it was not food poisoning. That worried me.
I have also heard that vomiting and morning sickness can last for the length of the pregnancy.
I think it's cause of shifts in hormones.
I can't remember now what sets it off.
It's different for every woman.
Thanks for your comments.

She scared me so much that day when she was not moving around for awhile. She is still very active and tires out after much exercise.
