there are medical references that encourage a high-protein diet to lose weight...
Getting fat:
- eat carbs with high-sugar content
- sugar raises insulin levels and makes the sugar deposited as body fat
Getting slim:
- eat lots of protein and less carbs with high-sugar
- exercise to burn the excess calories - from the sugar that was once body fat
- maintain this strategy until body far is reduced as needed
I am not a medical expert; comments anyone?

sounds about right to me! The basics of losing weight is to take in less calories than you are burning a day! And 3500 calories = one pound. So, if you burned 3500 calories in a week, you'd lose one pound a week. ONe way to do this is to reduce your calorie intake by 500 a day, and so in a week you'll be one pound thinner!
I have been counting calories and while I haven't weighed myself yet, I have been feeling better and the bulge in my tummy seems to be going away! It's exciting to start seeing results!

i shall take note of the calorie count as you mentioned, thanks :)
I'm glad you find good results.
I also try to do stretching while sitting almost all day working online. I also do a daily brisk walk for a few minutes.
Also, nowadays, I would opt to drink water when I feel like taking extra calories.
I used to just munch on any sweets. This time I'd just drink water and do something interesting for me (keeps me from going for the sweets again :) )
They say it is best not to take in any fluids during the meals. They advise lots of water/fluids in between meals.
What do you think?

Thanks. It looks like there are plant sources of protein that are good such as beans. But these seem to also provide unhealthy uric acid.
Personally, since my uric acid level is low, I would eat different types of beans and bean-based such as tofu.
Perhaps the better source could be white (poultry) meat e.g. chicken or turkey. Here in Manila, it is good they sell skinned chicken with much of the fat removed.
Cheers.
