Not a pet bird obviously, a wild bird. Apparently we had one this morning. My guess is one of the cats drug it in. My husband spent all morning trying to catch the poor thing. He said it had an injured wing. He finally caught it and set it free. I was lucky enough to have slept through all of this. I don't know what I would have done if it had happened while he was at work. I would have freaked out, and I don't think I could have caught it and set it free.

Yes it has!! It was about 4 years ago now, one of my cats caught a little baby bird, it was fully grown and feathered but had not long been out of its nest.
We spotted that the cat had it and rushed out to save it, well what a performance we had then, it went under a bin and we could not get it, my son lifted the bin up and I went to grab it. At the same time my cat rushed in and grabbed the bird again and took off into the house, we both went in after him and he dropped the bird. We shut the kitchen door and tried to get this bird and it went behind the washing machine!
So, we dragged the washing machine out, no sign of it, we could not figure out where it had gone and then we noticed a big hole down the back of the wall and he was hiding in there. My son managed to get him out and what a state he was, he was absolutely sodden wet and filthy!! He was panting like mad too, so I cleaned him all up and then I knew I could not release him straight away so I put him in with my finch that had also been a present from the cat!!
It was quite funny as they did not get on at first and kept squabbling but within an hour they were friends, I released the wild bird the next day and he flew off quite fit and well!

Sounds a bit like my story. My husband finally gave me the full details when he got in from work. One of the cats did bring it in. While my son kept the cats away, my husband chased the bird, who was already injured from the cat. The bird went behind the dryer, which had to be pulled out. Then it sat in the cat litter, then the cat food, dumb bird, lol. Then he got in the bathroom. Eventually my husband put a bowl on top of him and slid some cardboard underneath, and then let it free outside.
I do feel a bit bad that it was injured, but what can I do? Perhaps he would have been better off if the cat had finished him. I just hope he's not in pain now.

yes it happened to me a couple of times, in a strange way it is very frighteneing well I found it so, I was opening all the doors hoping it would fly out by it self which eventually it did as I had no idea how you try to catch them and I guess it was more frightened than I was...
