television on even if not watching it

Sounds exactly like me I have to have some kind of back ground noise on if i am awake..or even sleeping now ..i used to not be able to sleep if any kind of noise was on because i would stay awake listening to the program instead of trying to sleep now i have to have something in the background distracting me at all times..my husband is the exact other way LOL he wants no noise when sleeping.. or could care less if the tv is on or off..so i vote NOT weird LOL

Its definately not weird. I am the exact same way, from the moment I wake up to when I go to sleep the tv is always on. My mother is the same way. I guess I got it from her.

Not weird at all. I know of many people that do the same thing too. I don't mind the quiet but sometimes when I am home by myself I like the tv on too when I'm on the laptop.

Thirty years ago I moved to the country and had only an antenna wire hooked to the tv. We had to throw the wire up into a tree over and over again and hope we got reception. I spent many a mornings trying to get something on the tv for the very reason you mentioned. I had a five month old baby, but I needed to hear something through the day besides his goo gooing lol. I liked hearing the background noise of game shows while I did my laundry and stuff like that. It was just to dispel the loneliness. I don't think it's weird at all.

No, I don't think so. I'll have the TV on, just to have some noise in the background, especially when I'm alone at home. I'll be working on the computer, and listening to the news or whatever show that is on. It's a nice way to relax while I work.

I don't think it's weird. If I'm home alone and feel lonely, I'll often turn on the TV just to have some background noise to listen to. It helps a lot.

I too always keep the television set on when I am alone at home. I hardly ever watch tv but I am listening to the tv the whole day.....

Oh!!Its not at all wierd!!Its same to me too,whenever I get bored I put my television on,though I was not watching it.At that time,I just try to distract myself.

It's not weird, I think MANY people are like this. I used to do the Weather Channel thing too! But because of the internet I don't feel the need to have the TV on so much, but still, it usually is.
