this is for all the people who had collections of things they had to leave behind for one reason or another (college,no room, etc)intending to pick it up,only to find out your mom chucked it with the excuse of "it was junk" "you're too old for that" or "i thought you didn't want it".i've had friends who lost whole comic collections due to that. did your mom get rid of it on you, what was it? if it turned out to be valuable later, did you show her what it's now worth?

My mum is very good and wont throw my stuff out unless Ive told her I dont want it!! I have most of my Wallace and Gromit stuff at my mums from when I lived their 6 years ago. She knows not to throw them out but when I was their last we went threw the boxes that were in the wardrobe and were able to condense them down to what I wanted to keep, throw away and what could be given to charity shops!! Im not sure how much the Wallace and Gromit stuff is worth but I have been collecting 1998ish!! I have a few duplicate items and am thinking of selling the duplicates!! I do browse eBay but I try not to bid as I end up doing some crazy bidding!!

LOL that sounds like a good idea-basically a wishlist so they know what to get you

Yes they are hard to find which is why Ive now taken to using ebay which is good as Im able to get things that were produced in other countries!! There is someone on ebay who has some in Japan so was able to get things from there, the only thing is you have to be careful bout bidding for an item. I try to set a certain amount that I will bid. I have various things from bubble bath, teddies, t-shirts, car blanket, air fresheners, alarm clocks, jigsaw puzzles, figurines, key-rings, things that have been made from craft fairs!! It is now at the point where no one buys me anything Wallace and Gromit as they arent sure what I have and dont have!! I might have to a photo portfolio type thing so that they can look through!! lol

Hi scarlet_woman! Oh that is so frustrating when it happens to you. However, it didn't happen to me yet. haha..Anyway, my husband is a collector of so many things such as toys, comics, cameras, stamps and more. He loves his Star Wars collection, ET, A Team, Super Powers, Japanese robots, and a lot more. One day, he was looking for his ET mask which is in great condition and is worth a lot because a friend of his convinced him to sell it to him. He had kept it in his shelves at the storage room at the back of our house. And months before that, his mother was looking for something at that storage room and saw that ET mask and the maid said that she got it and gave it away. The maid whispered to me that mother-in-law took it and the maid was scared to tell my husband who took it because my mother-in-law told her not to tell anyone. Yikes! haha..Until now, my husband is looking and wondering where his ET mask is. I wanted to tell him but I know it will stir up some trouble. So, I am still keeping my mouth shut. Although he has his suspicions that his mother was the one who took it but can't confirm it because his mother denied it. It is frustrating though! Take care and God Bless!

My moher knew etter than to do suf like that. Had she done it, I would have sowed her exactly what it was worth. LOL Mind you my collection is od really old 78 RPM records, so those are kindof hard for a mother to find worthless. Also, I had the room to take them with me when I moved out of the house, thank goodness.

i think i responded to this before but i need to again. you should have seen the look on my youngest sons face when i offered him back a big box of comic books i've been carrying from move to move in 3 moves in 3 yrs i've done i had them in storage for a while also. im such a big haorder. he gave them to me for a loan i gave him way back 5 yrs ago. they were vintage. i was supposed to sell them but couldnt bring myself to do it. he was so surprised last week when i said a late merry xmas here...your comic books. he says, you kept them and didnt sell them? !! like i told him, many times the kids complain about my hoarding things and yet they appreciate it when its their things..LOL!

i had shown her many times and she felt bad that she didnt get the money. mostly from dolls and paper dolls and comic books. but whats even worse is i left my 12yrs old son with her, way back, hes grown now. but i left him for about 9 mths while i was getting settled and a place to live for us and she sold off all his old GI Joes and baseball cards at the flea market for mere pennies that were worth a fortune. she talked him into letting her for halph the money, he was sick about it to when he found out how much some of them were worth.

Well it has been said that one man's trash is another treasure .I know the feeling though that occurs when your mom throws out something that you treasured because she thought it was important. My mom tosses out anything that gather dusts in my room ,from notes to shoes and much to my annoyance
