 Have you ever used the wrong postage stamps on your
envelope for mailing?
Do you ever use too many or too few stamps for envelopes?
In the US they keep raising the postage stamp rate, so
I'm never sure from one week to the next what the
correct postage should be.
Ordinarily, one first class stamp will mail an
envelope (of normal size) anywhere in the country.
But since I don't know what first class stamps cost
at any given time, I have to sort of guess.
Back when stamps cost less than forty cents each, I
bought a big bunch!
Most times, I tack on a couple extra one cent stamps
for each envelope to be sure I'm using the correct postage.
That works for me.
If it's an extra important envelope like a bank deposit
by mail, then I use two first class stamps per envelope.
Guess that's better than using less postage than necessary
and having my money get lost in the mail.

I used an old one to send a letter to the USA, I guess they didn't notice, or they decided to look the other way, because it went through anyway. Maybe they hought it was important (it was a letter to my husband and there were a lot of lip prins on he outside of the envelope) and decided to take pitty on the sender, and not penalize me for not putting enough postage on it, The card itsself was really small, so smaller than most letters. Maybe it was a combination of all three.

I only buy forever stamps now. I believe they are the same price, but they stay good even if they raise the price again.

My condoloences on the money.
The reason I brought up the money part is that it
almost happened to us awhile back.
We mailed a letter at the postal box at the front
of our apartment building and that same day postal rate
raise went into effect.
My spouse went down to the apartment office and waited for the
post person to come by and explained the situation.
She was gracious enough to allow him to afix extra
postage onto our envelope before taking it.
We were lucky to have caught it, cause
the envelope contained our paychecks and bank deposit!

But I did notice that the stamps that I have used lately just have first class on them and not the price of the stamp like they use too. I guess that first class stamps don't have the amount. I had to look again to make sure. The Liberty bell there nice and pretty. I don't even know how much a stamp is right now. That's how long it has been since I have mailed something out. I think if they just gave out first class stamps that would take care of that. So you would not have to many or too few stamps on a letter. Have a good one.

When you think about it just about everything is electronically done to the point that you get things in the mail but rarely send mail. Have a good one. | |

I have lots of them, and I tack them on to anything, unless I have a current stamp. I have so many denominations now, it just is mind boggling.

I have heard that the US Postal service
has been bleeding red ink for many years
and absorbing much of the actual cost
as offset by the government.
I guess with budget cut backs from the government
they are being forced to pass the true cost of mailing
along to the consumer!
Well, we got many years of good service at low prices.

I remember when I was a teenager, I purposely posted a letter with 5 cents stamp which definitely not enough. (That time we need to paste 15 cents stamp for each envelope) I did that just to prove what I heard from my friends. They told me if we send a letter using a wrong stamp, the receiver needs to collect and pays the balance of the amount at the post office. That was a 'secret love letter' that I sent to my boyfriend and as he was studying at boarding school, I wanted him to collect the letter by himself. I didn't want the warden to read the letter which is one of the rules in boarding school*laughs*

Funnily, at one time, I was so engrossed in my thoughts, I posted the letter without stamps. Unfortunately, the p erson who receives the letter gets to pay for it if he wants the letter, or its back. Has it ev er happened to you.

the day of her B-DAY.
The next day, after mailing the card, I was
looking in my purse, and I found the stamp.
It upset me terribly. We never miss sending a

| 9. dpk262006 (5255) | 1 month ago |  I did not use wrong stamps, when I would post letter in the past. I sometimes forgot to stick a postage stamp, at all and posted the letter. Consequently, the receiver of the letter had to pay double the amount of stamp to receive my letter.....LOL!
Now sending letters have become extinct.No one write me and vice versa. Telephone and mobile phone has replaced letter writing.
