Can money buy you happiness? |
|
Can it? Alot of people disagree and think that money cant buy you happiness. But money makes you feel completely secure. If you dont go money/power hungry, money can be a very good thing. You are happy because you are secure, and you have money to travel, etc and everything for the future for you and your family. I think, in certain scenarios, that money can buy happiness. What do you think?

1. boxieblue (246) | 4 weeks ago | i would think yes...but then again, if u have heard the song "minwe" by savage garden, you would think no i would like to quote a line from that song which goes, "i wonder if you know the pain To want the one thing that you haven't got." well, money can't buy you some things, including, of course, love

3. Valenas (683) | 4 weeks ago | I think that there is a gray area to this question. It cam to a certain extent. If you are living on the streets, and you get the money to buy a small, or maybe even an average house, you are going to be happy with that money. If you have friends, your friends are going to be happy for you. You will be back on your feet. You will have a bed to sleep in. You will be able to clean yourself up in some place other than, say, the bathroom where you work. If you live in a large home, and you get the funds to upgrade to a mansion, and you have a lot left over, you'll be happy to begin with. And then, a lot of the people that you thought were your friends will start asking you for money. You may give out a little here and there, but soon they will be coming to you for EVERYTHING. And, if you cut them off from your pockets, they may say that you are not a friend to them, and leave you. Over time, that is enough to make a person miserable.

4. chenmeiyi (504) | 4 weeks ago | Good topic for discussion. I have to say i disagree with you.If a millionare has no family, has no friends, but he does have big house and luxurious car,can you say he acquired happiness? Definetely,no.On the contary,a man has great physical body, has a warm home and beautiful wife, lovely children,he also has two diligent hands which can help him create wealth little by little, even though now he is poverty-sticken.Can you say he is not happy? Happiness lies not in how much wealth do you possess,or how much power you are in control,it consists in sharing what you already have, and making other people feel you are in need.

YoungInLove (658) | 4 weeks ago | you're right you do have a point. I know money cant buy you love from a spouse or a family, and even if your rich you can be unhappy and alone. But when I wrote this discussion, I was thinking about how having money would give my family the oppurtunity to do alot more things, such as pay for my schooling, renovate our house, take a trip, etc, which would make us very happy, which is a result of having that money. But I do agree with you on most of the points you made,

chenmeiyi (504) | 4 weeks ago | dear friend,if you have a happy heart, that's enough. you have your dreams, you want to take your children to good schools, take your family on vacation and so on,you are already on the way of pursuing and purchasing your happiness, that's great.i do really think happiness is in the meaningful pursuit,it is becoming,it is constant.

6. TheDevil (483) | 4 weeks ago | I think money facilitates the process of being happy ...i think the greatest benefit of money is that it increase your options ..the more money you have, the more choices you have in just about every aspect of life. having enough money for your needs gives you freedom to pursue your dreams that might be fulfilling but not lucrative ...for eg ...say if you want to be an MBA and you feel that this your calling ..this is what u need to be...but you cannot pursue the degree because of financial conditions, supporting your family..but if you have funds you can follow your dreams and feel content about it ...Devoting more time to your work will make you a better and will probably increase the chance to gain some recognition for your work ....but if you have to come home after slogging for a mere amount of money ...full day, drive the kids for practice, get dinner, do housework and get everybody to bed ..then you;re not going to be up for much else at the end of the day ..but if you have money to spare on hiring a help for household chores and free up some time then wouldn't u be happy for spending sum time with you beloved family members ..I know i did be....

7. Valiantdude (837) | 4 weeks ago | money cant directly purchase happiness for you happiness comes in different forms and some of them can be brought up by money only. let suppose you need something and you are not able to purchase that and suddenly you got money to purchase that then you must feel happy and that happiness comes through money. but at the other hand if you are missing someone and want to meet her and that is not possible in that case money cant buy happiness for you.

| 8. failsafe_o5 (31) | 4 weeks ago | i don't think money can buy happiness. well, to be honest, the sense of 'happiness' is a very transient thing in itself. i could say i'd be happy if only i could get my own car and my own house, but then when i do get it my definition of happiness would have already changed. money can buy things and the most important thing it can buyand provide is security. security in a way that you'd always be sure to eat three full meals a day, have a roof over your head and have internet to keep you from boredom (okay, probably the last is not that necessary:) ) but i believe everyone would agree that happiness is not just based on material things and security... there is always something more. cliche as it is, love cannot be bought, nor respect or trust. and i think all these are inherent to real happiness

10. christylynn (294) | 4 weeks ago | Money can certainly pay the bills keep us feed and maybe let us have a few luxuries from time to time but true happiness no I don't so. I remeber some of the best times when me and husband where frist starting out we had hardly nothing but the basic nessecaties we were so happy don't get me wrong we are really happy now but it just seem simplier then.
