should children be prohibited from using internet?

The internet is very educational as well. When I was a child we had encyclopedias and libraries, but for children these days all the information they need is right at their fingertips on the internet.

I think parents need to watch their children while on the internet though to ensure they do not encounter a risky website. I believe most computers offer a parental control. My husband told me he ensured our computers will not go to a pornographic website because he was able to disable it. But I still watch my son while he is on the computer.

I don't because we keep our computer in the living room and I can see what she has is is doing. If she goes where she isn't supposed to, I put controls on so she can't go to very many places.
I think as long as you are doing your job a a parent internet access is fine.

There is a big risk of having young children on the internet but not allowing them to use the internet will certainly reduce their chance to learn. A lot of things involves using the internet. Internet is fast and convenient resource to find information.

One of my children needed to do an assignment on Mount Rushmore. He was able to find all the information that he needed from the internet. For him, it was quick and easy and was about to complete his assignment in less time in comparison to looking the information up in reference books.

The best way to make sure kids don't access any risky sites is keeping an eye on what they do.

I think with parental guidance it should be all right. Internet itself is not bad as some have mentioned that a lot of information can be found just by a click. It all boils down to the user

That's like killing all children because they might grow up to be murderers. Banning it would stop them from going to those sites, but it kills a lot of research, games, even the iTunes store.

I think that children should still be allowed to use the internet but they need to be supervised by an adult at all times. I think the adult should actually do the surfing for them to make sure that they do not go into sites that are not appropriate for them. It would be nice to keep them away from the internet but it is part of the world these days. Schools and companies have them, so they will still have access to them as they grow older.

well everything in this world had a good and a evil effect but we should teach and make the know the real fact that what is bad for them and what is good. now we can use the power of internet for learning make new and good things, we can complete our projects, do homeworks and internet really helps us to be connected to our frends and all. but still it has a evil side that is increasing effect prono site on the childrens, so we should make then aware that that isn't good for them. so i would say we should not completely prohibite them from internet but yaa we can tell them what are dos and don'ts on internet

no children must not be prohibited from using internet...because internet is the greatest source of knowledge...

well,i also agree that there are more chances for the children to watch some bad sites...here's the solution...

Even though i know that internet is very useful
to the students in their studies. I prefer that
they are prohibited from using internet. Matured
sites are easy to access and other bad websites.
It's for the protection of the innocent mind.

I think they should be monitored on the internet. They should be allowed to use the pc as that is the way of the world now...Lori
