I prefer to buy my DVD so I keep them for a long time.

I will useally rent a movie on dvd first to see if I am going to like it then decied if it's one I want to buy. There are alot of movies I have rnted and ended up buying and my collection of them is growing bigger by the year.
I like the fact tahat if I buy a movie I can watch it over and over again any time I wish to.

I mostly rent movies, I only buy them if its something that I really like, and I know I would watch it more than once, in which theres hardly any movies these days that I want to spend my money on..lol.

We generally wait for the movie to come to TV, and will "rent" it on cable in the 'videos on demand' section. If it looks like it's something we'd like to see again, we'll buy it. Also, if I hear about a certain movie from a friend or family member and they tell me that it's excellent, I'll buy it.
My husband has solved the "storage" problem, to a point, anyway. He buys those really skinny jewel cases and puts the movies in them. That more than doubles our space. I take the label out of the original case, cut it down to fit the new case and place it in there, then make a label for the edge of the case and stick that on so they're easier to find.
When my kids were young, the best investment I ever made was to buy the movie "Hook". I had heard it was a really good movie, so I bought it before ever thinking of renting it. My kids LOVED that movie and played it every day for about a month!

I buy DVD moies. I am only interested in he ones that I know I really really want to see, and the ones that I really really want o see more often han not turn out to be the ones that I really really want to KEEP! Also, there really isn't a convenient video store in my area where I can rent DVD's

Hi there Muelitz, We prefer to buy DVD movies rather than to rent. It's better to purchase DVD than renting so we can able to watch it again and again.
My uncle used to collect DVD's and his collection is more than a hundred now. So If we want to watch our favorite action film, we watch it again together with the whole family. Thanks for the post!

If you want to collect DVD movies, buying them is preferable. But if you just want to watch, I prefer to rent them. In my case, I have a collection of DVD's which was bought by my husband in Canada. We are far from the city and there's no DVD rentals here in our place.
But it doesn't matter, we only use our home theater once in a while. My kids prefer to play Play Station than watch movies.

We have Netflix so we get movies that way each week. If there's a movie that we really really like, we will buy it on DVD (or Bluray). We have two big DVD cases and I have all our movies alphabetized so that it's easy to find what we're looking for :) (I'm a neat freak like that)

Hi friend, if you want the movie to see any time when you want, then it's good to buy the DVD other wise if you want to see the movie only once then you can rent the DVD. It's all depend up on your usage.

Where I live in my hometown, there's a place where we can rent cd's and you can rent it for 3 days. I think it is a lot cheaper if we rent it rather than buy it. I think 3 days is an enough time span so that other members of the family can also watch the movie if they do not have time to watch it with the entire family. But of course, the best would be being able to see them on theaters. But I guess doing that regularly would be expensive.

I used to do that. But since we had this pc, I only watch online. With youtube, I can watch streamed movies now. There are so many other online ways. If you want asian movies and tv series, go to crunchyroll.com. Some Filipino movies are there too like Dubai.

I don't have a lot of money right now so I like to rent movies because it's cheaper for me. I have Family Video by my house and the prices are a lot better than Blockbuster. I can usually get a lot of movies that are 2 for a dollar. I used to like buying movies when I had more money so I could watch them more than once. I have an extra small room so it would be hard to find a place to put my DVD's.

I prefer to buy them. We buy them used, so we got them, usually, for $3-8. If we like them, we keep them and watch them again and again. If we don't like them, we sell them back for about half of the cost. It makes it cheaper than doing pay-per-view, on demand, renting, or going to the theatre. Since there are no late fees to returning them, if we don't like them, we don't have to worry about paying late fees or extra days.

It's easy to store dvd now because a lot of stores sell a dvd case where you can just throw the case and put your dvds and cds. It will also organize your dvds and cds and will also save so much space. I prefer buying dvds than renting because if I love the movie, I want to have my own copy. And I think having an own copy of the dvd is better than spending the money to watch it in theaters.
