Jon and Kate plus 8 |
|
Do you watch it? Do you like it? I have a strange addiction to this show. I can't miss it but then it annoys me so much that I get upset for watching it. I totally understand that raising 8 kids is tough especially sextuplets and twins. I have 4 plus 2 stepkids and it is very hard but I just don't agree with alot that they do and it almost seems as if the parents are just using the kids to support themselves. Maybe I watch it because my 2 little ones are close in age to the sextuplets, the kids are really cute. This last year it just has really gotten to me. What do you think?

pam210 (329) | 1 year ago | I do enjoy the kids and they are really cute but you know how sometimes one or two things just turn you off and you start finding all kinds of things wrong. The thing that really bothers me is that when the kids were all sick and she put the one little boy in the laudry room on the tile floor on a blanket and closed the door with the washer and dryer running. I just felt so bad. I wouldn't of wanted to be laying 5 feet away from the washing machine when it is running. The other thing is when she got mad at her sister in law for giving her kids gum. I totally understand - I don't give my kids gum but she was yelling at the kids and telling one of them that she was going to throw his blanket away - it wasn't their fault. I know I am just taking it way too personal. Its just hard because I have a little boy the same age.

pam210 (329) | 1 year ago | I tape it each week and end up watching it whenever I can. I think the main reason I can't keep away from it is that my son is the same age as the sextuplets and I am always comparing what they are doing to what he is doing. That may be why I am a bit harder on the parents because I see things that I don't agree with but I just have to not take it so personally. The kids are being raised in a loving home and they seem to be great kids its just not how I would do things.

pam210 (329) | 1 year ago | I know it has to be hard having 6 at one time. I have 6 and they are all different ages and that is hard enough. I often imagine what it would be like if all of mine were closer in age. A friend of mine has twins and she about lost her mind the first year - now that they are in the first grade she is having a hard time because of the cost. It is almost like you prepare when the kids are spaced out but when you automatically need to double up in one year it is hard.

4. Chevee (3640) | 1 year ago | I love this show, I watch it often, but I do get sort of upset at the fact that Kate, yells at Jon a lots, she is a little to bossy, and too much of a neat freak, kids need to be able to get dirty and have a little messy fun sometimes. Other than that I really like it. Another thing Kate is always making statements about not having enough money, aren't they getting paid for the show. Have anyone heard anything about Aunt Jodie will no longer be on the show?

pam210 (329) | 1 year ago | That is my feeling exactly. I like the show but sometimes I just get frustrated watching it. When I hear her talking about money all the time I think they are getting to go all of these places that I can't afford to go and now that this is their job they get to be with their kids all of the time and get paid for it. Not only is Aunt Jodie not on anymore but her friend Beth isn't on at all this year and she doesn't evern mention them.

| 5. 4blessingsmommy (32) | 7 months ago | Our family started watching it a while back. We have 4 children, 2 of whom are twins, so we can relate somewhat to some of the things they have endured. We enjoyed watching it when it was more about raising the children in a good home, being good parents emotionally and spiritually for the children, teaching them right from wrong, etc.
Since right before they moved into their new home, we don't really enjoy watching anymore. We don't watch on a regular basis anymore, and I have told my children they are now only allowed to watch the old reruns. The show now is more about what they have gotten: a new home, a new motorcycle, new toys, puppies, jet setting, celebrity, etc. It is no longer about raising children in a wholesome environment.
I cannot condemn them because no one is perfect, but I just don't want my children to get the idea that it is good to be in the public eye, because you can have all of this money and all of this stuff that doesn't really matter in the course of life.
We love the children and have actually been praying for the family. If they could just seek God first and trust that God would provide for their needs I believe they would be a lot better off, even if it meant to stop the show. So what if they can't give the children every toy they want, or buy them each a car when they are old enough, or even send them all to college. There are scholarships and they can all get jobs when they get older. I would rather have my children be successful at being good people and trusting God than have money and possessions. You can't take any of that with you when you go and it certainly won't determine where you spend eternity.
I know what you mean about the new episodes getting to you. I get so upset watching those precious children knowing that they family is falling apart and all they need is two loving and responsible parents, not money.
