Once a cheater, always a cheater? |
|
What do you guys think of this phrase, "Once a cheater, always a cheater"? Do you think once someone cheats they always have the urge, or does this only apply to some people? Do you think some of us can cheat once and never again, or will there always be that desire?

If they were truly happy there would be no need or desire to cheat. Of course there will always be temptation no matter who are you, you just have to be strong enough to resist and trust in your current relationship.

3. spalladino (2941) | 1 month ago | I believe that someone who breaks a promise of fidelity to another has a serious character flaw that will reappear again and again. Unless the guy was blind drunk and woke up in some other woman's bed, he made a decision and that decision was that his word isn't worth much and that he can't be trusted.

I know I could never forgive someone that cheated on me, or trust then again either. It is just such a horrible feeling to know the person you love has been sleeping with another person. I can't get past it.

5. photographygirl73 (1193) | 1 month ago | I think that some men can change if they really wanted to, but to me it's more about trust. Once that trust is broken it is very hard to get it back if at all. I personally might eventually forgive my husband for cheating on me, but I would never trust him again. To me trust is a very fragile thing. I have a hard enough time trusting people as it is, so if anyone were to abuse my trust then no I would not put my trust in them again. Thankfully I know my husband well. I know that he loves me 100 percent. He has proven this many times, so I wont every have to worry about this.

7. LadyMarissa (578) | 1 month ago | In my lifetime, I have known a lot of cheaters. I can say the majority of them fit the category of "once a cheater, always a cheater". However, I've known a few who were chronic cheaters & then met their soulmate & straightened right up. One girlfriend's husband had been cheating & when she confronted him & he told her how she made him feel in very plain english, she changed her ways & years later they are still together & happily married (with NO more cheating). So it really does depend on the people involved as to wherther the word "always" applies. Part of me feels cheating is NEVER justified; but I have seen instances where I totally understood why the cheating party chose to do so. I have heard cheaters make the comment "I got away with it & it becomes easier every time"

8. dragonfly242 (857) | 1 month ago | I dont think this phrase is necessarily true for everyone that cheated. There can be many different reasons why people cheat, and not all can be labeled as seriel cheaters. While there are people that gives this phrase credit, there are others that dont. I believe that in every situation people can make mistakes and learn from them and never do it again, so a person that may have erred in their judgement and cheat on their partner, may never do it again. I guess it all depends on the person.
