No, I'm not actually and my family didn't use any cumin or chili powder when I was growing up because my mom never cared for them. As I started cooking for myself though I realized I enjoyed those flavors and started using them a lot in stews, chili, casseroles, etc. My dad and I have always loved garlic and red pepper.

There are a host of spices I love. First, I use lots of salt, pepper and garlic salt. I love celery seed, parsley and sage. I also use cinnamon, nutmeg, paprika, chili powder, basil and cloves. I use cayenne pepper some, but not as much as regular pepper.

In Indian cooking we use a lot of spices both for our vegetarian food and for our non-vegetarian food.We use garlic, ginger for most of the dishes then we use a lot of pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin etc.Our dishes are mostly very spicy but at the same time its very tasty too.i guess we are used to this so if there is no spices used we find those dishes very bland. Its only the question of getting used to a particular taste.

WE are very similiar to your family. I use salt, pepper and garlic on everything. When we grill out chicken, steaks or burgers, I always use montreal seasoning too.
