Well, folks we just had one heck of a Thunderstorm come through.

Lightening in the sky - The lightening lit up the sky and it flashed real pretty. God's power at work in the sky.

I was sitting down to a slice of watermelon and I heard the thunder and saw the lightening. And the next thing I knew the power went off. All of it all over the town. I went feeling for my flash light and used it to continue reading my book. It was a wild storm and lasted every bit of twenty minutes if that. Now the nice thing about this little city I live in is no matter what when the power goes off for whatever reason within a half hour the power is back on. So the power is back and I am back here on Mylot. My city is a cool little city.

it has been a heck of of summer here too, always raining, I hate where I live because the power lines are still above ground so we get frequent blackouts, but they don't last long, where I used to live the wires were underground and we hardly ever got black outs at all.

well I live in Verdun, and it used to be a city of its own that didn't have much money, now it is part of the bigger city montreal, and where I lived before I was in downtown montreal so it was much newer.

Hi winterose, It often amazes me that places don't put there power lines under ground. It would stop a lot of power outages in bad storms. Our power lines here are above ground but we don't have a lot of power outages. And when we do the power is back within a half hour so that is not bad at all.

That is great that your power is back on now. We have had some bad storms here in Indiana this year also. Our electric goes off just about every time too. It stays out for 2-3 hours at a time sometimes. We had some storms come through about a week ago also and it stopped raining but our electric kept going off and on and I was trying to cook on my electric stove and oven. That got annoying.

I have heard of Paintsville, Kentucky but do not know exactly where that is. I am just east of Evansville, Indiana, right along the Ohio River. I hope your electric doesn't go out again. Ours goes out and we have underground cable for it. It should not go out as often but it does.

I would say that would get annoying. We travel through Indiana on our way to Kentucky. My husband is from Paintsville, Ky. I have to say our little city is very good about getting the electricity back on again. I love watching Thunderstorms but I don't like it taking our power and shutting it down. Oh well, the electricity came back on very quickly. But as I type the rumpling of thunder has returned. So maybe the storm has decided to come back around.

You are lucky! When the electric goes out in my town it is usually out for several hours.

We haven't had a good thunderstorm around here in a long time. I miss the sound of thunder. We had some amazing ones when we lived in Arizona, during monsoon season. It was a load of fun to listen to, and watch. I wish I'd had my video camera at that time.

For the last few weeks we've been having a number of night time thunderstorms too. But when our power goes out (and it does every time!), it stays out for six hours or more and I find myself getting up in the middle of the night to turn the tv and lights off. LOL I can't turn them off once the power's out for some reason - must the satellite or something. I can turn off the lamps, but not the tv. I'll be glad actually when winter is back. We don't get power outages in the winter for some reason unless there is a really really bad blizzard and we haven't had one of those in quite a few years where I live.

The city I live in must have a generater. Because our power is back on very quickly. Sounds like you need a clapper. You know the contraption where you clap your hands and the lights go off or on which ever you want it to do. I am looking forward to winter getting here also. It's to hot for me.

Most cities over a certain population have back up generators for emergency power outages. Lucky you. My town is too small to afford one, or need one really. lol Us old folks are used to candle light! LOL Now a clapper is a great idea! Next trip to the city and I'll pick one up!
