Bound Beaten, and Burned--Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth?

If a person can abuse another person the way this man did to his girlfriend, and in front of their children, is jail time enough? Does a person really get anything out of jail time. Sure it is a drag and dangerous, but is it enough? The criminal can't feel the pain his victim went through. Maybe if jail time was couple with the pain he inflicted on his victim, it might help.
According to the NY Post:
A Brooklyn woman was held captive for two weeks by a jealous boyfriend who tied her to a baby crib in his apartment, beat her with an electric cord and repeatedly burned her with a curling iron, sources said yesterday.
Jason Page, 34, apparently snapped when he suspected his 22-year-old girlfriend was seeing another man, the sources said.
"I'm so scared he's going to come after me. I'm afraid he's going to make bail," a battered Denetria Council told The Post from her room at Woodhull Hospital.
The home health aide managed to escape yesterday after Page dozed off, according to the sources.
The bleeding, severely burned woman was in critical but stable condition.
Her enraged father, William Council, said he had repeatedly called Page's home on Bushwick Avenue looking for his daughter.
"He would tell me she was at work and that her hours had changed," he said.
"This is a bad, bad man.
"Her whole body looks like she was in a fire. She told me he was beating her with an iron rod [curling iron] and burning her with it."
Page allegedly stuffed a sock in her mouth and covered it with duct tape. He also burned the bottoms of her feet with a lighter, the sources said.
He carried out his torture sessions in front of his 3- and 7-month-old children and tied Council to the baby's crib, her relatives said.
"My daughter didn't deserve this," her father said.
Page also used an electric cord to beat her arms, legs, back and chest - but was careful to avoid hitting her face, the police source said.
After Council escaped, Page allegedly tracked her to her parents' house. The sources said he arrived shortly before cops did and tried to choke her in full view of neighbors.
Page was arrested after trying to flee on a city bus. He was charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment and weapons possession.
"He was a real jealous guy. He was always questioning who she was seeing," said Sam Wright, Council's stepfather.
"We thought something was up, and we would call over there, and she'd tell us she was fine," Wright recalled. "That's because he was standing over her with an iron rod while she was on the phone."

I think a swim across the Hudson River would be in order here.

I hope he's not able to get out on bond, because he will probably try to finish the job and kill her. I don't think these sick, sadistic types ever learn. They should be put down, or put away for good. There are a lot of women who have been tortured and murdered by these types, and killing them would prevent them from hurting any more women.

And I have a feeling he has abused someone else before. It just happens over and over again.

I don't think jail time is enough for this person. I think thi person needs to be let loose in the prison yard, with instructions to all he other prisoners, that they can do whateer they want to him. They've got a lot of violence inside them, this guy should be made into their friggen target!! He deserves it.

Yes, they do have a lot of anger in them. He needs to feel the pain he dished out.

Hi Yestheypayme, I think the important thing here is that the man's girlfriend be kept safe. She has already suffered so much both physical and emotionally that it will probably take a long time for her to heal, if she ever does. As for the man, he obviously needs help too, and causing him to suffer pain won't do anything for either of them. In fact it would only cause him to look for further revenge. This man may very will have to be kept away from society, probably for the rest of his life. Blessings.

I have read about how these men get out for good behavior and get earlier. Then they just go do it again because they were bitter for being in prison.

I agree. They need to see what that kind of pain feels like.
