Life sucks, then you die...especially if you live in the U.S.

Something that bothered me for about a year, is why my cat is going through so much food every week, because she never did before. Small bags of dry food used to be 4 lbs. I looked last night and they are all now 3.15 lbs. The price is the same as it was 6 months ago, the weight is much less! I will check human food, but for packaged food, we're being cheated.

Yes It is a shame that we are being ripped off on pet food and people food. I would be willing to bet there are more fillers in the pet food now too. It is sad when they do that. I feed my dogs Iams dog food so that is real expensive. Our cats are outdoor cats and since they get fed from everyone in the neighborhood (yes they all know both boys belong to us but they feed them and love on our boys anyway lol) we don't have them on a specialized diet or food they get what is on sale that week.

I feed a brand called Innova. It's totally organic and has NO cereal filler. There is absolutely no grain in it. It runs $20 a bag. Doggone cat eats better than I do most days.

Your cat food situation does suck, but I don't think it relates to the title of this discussion. I happen to think life's okay then you die, but it's much better if you live in the U.S. At least you can afford to have a cat and feed it instead of worrying about feeding yourself. Hey! You can even afford a computer and the internet. I think millions of people in this world would envy you.

It does suck. I guess every person and every company is trying to cut back on costs. I wish my rate of pay would increase as much as cost of living does! (Might be time for me to look for a new job!) I feel your pain. Hopefully things get better soon for all of us.

That's exactly what's happening. To go from 4 lbs to 3.15 in the same package, that's a price increase, no matter how you look at it. What used to last almost two weeks now lasts only a week.

If the U.S. is the center of the global economy, the world is currently in deep doo doo.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like you're being cheated. That sucks. I bought a bunch of canned food for Shakti on sale. I'll have to re-check the dried food bags, and see if the same thing that happened to you in the USA, has happened to us up here in Canada too. Love Your Favourite Wife

Inflation sux, no doubt about it. We need a revolution in the U.S. Something has to change and it needs to change at the top! All our "leaders" do is lead us into war and make everyone else in the world hate us. Our poorest do the fighting and the dying and the paying for them to have wealth. Check out the book "the Family" by Jeff Sharlet. It's pretty good and touches on why the u.s. is the way it is.

Hello Vladilyich1, I always think that I am being cheated most of the time. Whenever I buy packet formula milk for my son (which I need 7 packets of 1.1kg milk for him every month) it stated on the packet itself that it is for 1.1kg but when I open it, it is much much less than that. One third of the packet is only for the free air that being included as a content and I need to pay for that too. Whenever I buy outside food, the content getting lesser and the only reason being given to me is that nowadays every single thing is going up!

I think this is shown most in Potato Chips and just food products in general. The way they fill those chips with so much air and barely a chip inside. Also they cheat on the side by telling u theres only 6 grams of fat or whatever. Well thats just per serving, there is like 10 servings in the entire bag. -Sawyer
