Would You Believe That James Bond (Agent 007) Was Modeled From a Canadian?  |

|  I read from an article in National Post dated July 28, 2008 that James Bond, who's famous movie lines were "My name is Bond, James Bond", "A martini, Shaken but not stirred" could be patterned from a Winnipegger. Following is an excerpt:"The evidence has been gathering for years that writer Ian Fleming based his fictional hero on Sir William Stevenson, a real life spymaster who began his extraordinary existence in 1897
It was during Stevenson's tenure in charge of the phoney British Passport Office in New York City (actually a front for England's propaganda and counter-espionage headquarters) that Stevenson and writer Ian Fleming first met and became friends. Among many common interests, they both loved martinis, and Stevenson was famous for serving them to his guests in quart-sized glasses."It was alleged that, Fleming and Stevenson owned neighboring properties in Jamaica and have known each other for many years when Fleming sat down to write the first Bond novel. Being a James Bond fanatic, If it were true then would say having known that someone had lived like our idol is amazing . What do you think?

| |  I don't think Bond could possibly have been based too heavily on a real person. Everything was just too out-there. I'd say Fleming took bits and pieces of all he'd seen being around that, including parts of Stevenson.

I love James Bond when Sean Connery was THE JAMES BOND no one else could match him, was the real spy as handsome as our hero I wonder and did he have all these beautiful girls as well or that was just to make the film more exciting. Thank for the info, it was most enlightning.
