When cost goes up, price goes up... when cost goes down....

Prices remains!
It is so typical!
When the price of fuel went up, they justified that there must be a surcharge for fuel for taxis. Mind you, cars on the road. Not some air plane that burns a few hundred gallons just to bring you from one place to another.
Now that the prices of fuel at the pumps has reduced, they say they will still continue to keep the surcharge. That they are the ones heavily subsidizing the cab drivers. Sheez~~~

the first thought that crosses my mind when i heard about the drop in diesel prices was the surcharge. the latest drop is a whopping ten cents which should more than enough cover the surcharge. the taxi companies should really remove the surcharge or at least reduce it. maybe they can consider implementing it for long trips. it's really ridiculous as most rides won't burn more than 3 litres of diesel. so the drop has more than enough made up for the surcharge. i am going to boycott all the taxi companies that has the surcharge. are there any that doesn't has the surcharge?

I tell you, I tried boycotting them due to the surcharge. But it is near impossible.
The only company that implemented the surcharge is the largest company here.
This includes the blue cabs, the yellow cabs and the yellow tops.
The rest have yet to implement them.
Each time you flag for a cab, 9 out of the 10 cabs that passes by are from them!
Unless you are willing to call for one from the other companies. Or be willing to wait for up to an hour to get a cab from the other companies, it is gonna be tough to boycott them! One hour wait, can take the frigging bus or train to your destination liow loh!

guess i'm amongst the lucky few. i don't really need a taxi most of the time. my office is right upstairs an MRT station so it's easier to take the MRT. i usually stay home on weekdays so there's no need for a taxi too. i only make use of the taxi when i go out with my parents.
hmm, so the surcharge is by cabs that are blue, yellow and yellow top right? i'll be needing a cab tomorrow so i'll try my luck and not take any of those. wish me luck in doing so.

Gravity doesn't seem to be acting here. Prices never seem to come down in our nation and many other nations too.
I also notice that the C Company is not removing the 30cents surcharge despite oil prices going down.
All I can say is The T Group is making money from Singaporeans through SMRT, SBS, Comfort Delgro, Singapore Power, Telco's and at the same time is losing money to foreigners through purchase of UBS, Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, etc.

Haha.. Those investments ah?! Those are big companies but due to the subprime, they've all suffered losses. We have to wait for quite some time before it will pick up again. Even if the T Group makes money, it's not like they will share with us.

I too sometimes wonder. When they need funds to invest in something, they take money from the government right?
And when they make money on those investments, where does the money go to ah?
I am just curious. Cos till today, I still know nuts about how the money in the reserves is being accumulated. Is it all only from tax payer's money?

well at least the petrol companies are in a price war now and reducing their pump prices.
the taxi comapnies are still going to go wtih the 30 cent surchrage until diesel prices drop to $1.19. that was the latest news broadcast.
i think i ranted about flour and wheat prices as well in another post. feel like posting up these news articles. but prices are always sticky downwards. so bo pian. just have to bear it lor. at most try our best not to take cabs and buy less bread as a silent protest.

ha ha ha ha ha... that is as good as saying when the cows come home, the fat ma ma will sing!
Well, with the way prices are going down at the moment, lets see if they will hold to their word when the price of diesel really drop to $1.19.
I am not the least bit surprise if they will say "The price is not stable right now, lets see how long the price of $1.19 will stay before a decision is made to remove the surcharge."
Sheez~~~
