I'm just going to paste the links to the articals because it is justeasier than trying to explain it. but it seems the republicans have remained in the house of reps in protest of the adjournment before a vote on drilling. and this after trying to introduce a a bi partisan bill just drafted earlier today.
I included 2 links, one to fox's story and on to msnbc's (for those who find fox too offensive to view)

My reaction to this fiasco is that I hope no teachers had their classes visiting to see how our government works. Can you imagine having to go back home and explain to your class not to conduct the class meetings of student government like the Congress does!

Red, what are you talking about? This is the perfect time to show kids how our government works. I mean it is Con(-ned)gress. It's business as usual from this perspective. But of course no one really cares about blackouts and shutdowns. Nah. "Its fine", am-i-rite? -_-
X, you are not thinking hard enough. Everyone knows this has to be settled in the smash brothers arena.
No electricity, no lights, no speech, battleaxes only, final destination!!!

I think this is a tactic that Nana Pelosi learned from her Grandkids. She seems to think that it's her House. It's not even her freakin gavel!! I also wish that the Republicans would have acted this way over the last 7 years, Bush also. He seems to be speaking up more now that he is approaching lame duckness. How much different would things be if the Republicans had not been such cowering puppies? If Newt had done what Nana did what would the headlines be?

House Republicans are doing a great job at being a minority party. What I do not understand is why they could not show this kind of fire in their belly(whatever that means) when they were the majority. The House Republicans would not have had to protest congress going on vacation if they were the majority. What Bush should do is call Congress back to session, Nancy and her gang would have to come back from their very needed vacation. Like the do nothing congress needs a vacation.

What a brilliant move by the House Republicans. Granted, it won't nearly get the attention it deserves, nor will it actually in the end accomplish anything, but it did draw the necessary attention to the energy crisis.
It should be no secret to MyLotters who have known me for awhile that I am a huge fan of Representative Mike Pence of Indiana. His leadership during this is a testament to his care and devotion to the people of the Hoosier State and of the Country. I look for big things from him in the future.

I'll have to see if I can review the bi bill that is in question X. As far as this issue goes, I'm sitting here with a facepalm. I mean that's the only other thing I can think of since this is just more nothing. And hey, people love nothing right? (saracsm). -_- In any case, gasoline has gone down notably for some areas, but I'm willing to bet people still aren't happy paying $3.50+ per gallon in those cases. It'd be great if there was a multi-tier solution instead of a onesider dismal "solution" generally proposed by both parties (one for drilling, another for alternatives and conservation).

Well, my understanding is this was a bill that encumpassed both. Many of them have. the problem is the speaker wouldn't allow a vote on ANY bill that mentioned drilling, no matter how much else it contained. the word drill automaticly made any call to vote null and void.
