I love cat iron. I have several pieces in two different varieties. I have techniques cast iron which has a white enamalled finish on the inside (mine are tangerine colored on the outside) which means it doesn't need to be seasoned and clean up is a breeze. I love them. I have a rectangle roaster/baker, an everyday pan with a lid, an everyday frying pan, a square fryng pan and a square grill pan. The other peices I have are Paula Deen's cast iron. These are hammered finish on the outside and preseasoned on the inside. I have a big chicken fryer, a pot with a lid and bail handle, and a sqaure pot with a lid. I love these as well. I have a lot of pots and pans because we love to cook and different things require different pots or pans for propper preperation. Do you like cast iron?

I like cast iron for meats and if its a pot for slow cooking.

But things like eggs and light meats no, the heat is to much for it.

That is why I own a variety of pots and pans set cause not everything is the right kind to cook certain foods in. If I am cooking fried chicken or pork chops it has to be in cast iron no question about it.

I've considered getting a cast iron pan for some time now. I like that they're heavy duty and they add iron to your diet. I have been a little hesitant because of the need to keep seasoned and that they can be pretty heavy to lug around.

They have the kind like I have that has the enamalled inside that you don't have to worry about seasoning but you still get the same benifits of cast iron. Also the other kind I have is preseosoned so that all you have to do is maintain. Never ever wash a cast iron (except the enamelled kind) with soap. Just wash them quickly in water then dry it thoroughly then lightly oil it and it is ready to go. I would never buy the kind that you have to season cause they are a pain in the kutchers and it smells up the house when you are seasoning it.

Oh and cast iron is so good for outdoor cooking on the grill or open fire.

I like to do baked beans in my cast iron pots also cause they turn out so good. I also like doing beans in cast iron.

I love cast iron but I got a smooth top stove and I can't use cast iron on it or the top will get scratched.
I have my grandmas old cast iron skillets. I also have a roaster that I can use in the oven. I can use everything for camping but that will probably be about it.

That is why I don't like smooth top stoves. I have a coil burner range top. I would much prefer gas but we don't have that option where i live.

I love cast iron. I especially love the big cast iron pot I use for good hearty stews; it is the perfect thing for a cold winter's day.

I also like to do corn bread in a cast iron skillet-- just pop it on into the oven. Delicious!

I don't like to cook at all, and I am lousy at it. The first time I tried to cook something in a cast-iron pot, I blew the pot right off of the stove. No one told me that you don't turn Cast Iron up full boast. My husband, on the other hand, is a fantastic cook, and loves to cook. He wishes that we had some cast iron pots and pans around here to use.
