After my wife have been come back from our country after her visit to her family there, she say it is more better there now than before we live, people are getting in streets and walking in the markets, some parts of Baghdad still danger and you can avoid going throw these parts, but for the all situation there it is now beter than before a lot. So we are thinking about going back there, we have discuss what we could do there and how keep the kids in a safe way, I hope all things will be better. I just like to make you all know that things in Iraq are going better but it need some time to settling down and I hope it be. Any thoughts about what our thinking about going back to Iraq? Thanks in advance.

Yes there are some dangerous, but you can avoid that by not going to these places, you know that I have been here in Egypt for more than 2 years, and we all tired from that and need to go back in the first sign of getting better, we didn't decide yet but we are thinking seriously about that. Thank you for your response and have a great day.

Hi alkurishy, I am sure your wife knows better what is the present situation there since she was spending a lot of days there so, if ever, you can decide about it, that will be great since your family is living there... I agree you can always find a safer place and just avoid going to the place which is dangerous this time!

I think if you feel you want to go back to your country you should. After all it is your homeland. I would not want to leave my country for the rest of my life and I dont think you should if you dont want to. If you go back just please avoid the bad areas and dont go anywhere where you think you could get into trouble. I think people should live where they feel comfortable.

Hi Alkurishy, it's very sad that war happens and you have to run away to another country for the safety of your family. You'd miss your country very much. I don't know which part of Iraq you are from; and the news that we have from the media or internet, may not be accurate. Is it safe there now? That life is back to usual, and no more threats of bombing or war? You have to be careful, and look out for your kids and family. Whatever decision you make, I wish you all the best! And keep us informed!

Since I have taken you as a friend, I will be very frank here. While I don’t know how comfortable you are at your present place, I do have great reservations about your going back to Iraq. Since its your motherland, you will always want to go back, but this is not the time to be emotional. Your family’s safety, your earning opportunities, your kids education and their future – everything that is dear to all of us, are very unstable in Iraq from what I hear in the media. If its somewhat better now, there is no guarantee that it would become worse again in a few months. Just think that if you go back and admit your children to school and you start working and then suddenly after a few months, there is turmoil again in the country? What would you do? And its specially difficult for children to go on moving from one place to another. Please do nothing in haste, wait for some more time and assess the situation impartially before taking a decision.

Thnx for the BR…oh you stay in Egypt! What a beautiful country, I have never been there but it is so historically rich. You are lucky! Tell me, have you seen the Nile, is it as blue as it is said to be?

Hi my dear friend, good words must be evaluate my dear. Yes I have seen the Nile, but it is not blue as they say it is more darker and near to be hard gray, because of the alluvium that in it's riverbed. Thank you for your response and have a good day.

It makes me feel good that our time over there has helped in someway, so many are against this war, I think you all are way better of with that horrible man gone, I read that you wasn't even allowed to buy meat to eat it was only for Hussin, I know you must miss your country and life there, as long as you feel it is safe I say go for it. I know what it is like to be away from home as we are from Hurricane Katrina, been relocated for 3 years now a 1000 miles from home. I will pass the word that things are better there now, and good luck with whatever you do decide to do. Stay out of the bad parts.

Hello dear alkurishy. It is good news to hear that the situations in your country are getting better than it used to, which is very encouraging and relaxing to us. I love to see a strong and peaceful Iraq where you can live a quiet and peaceful life. Thank you for letting us know about the real situations there. Anyway so long as you think that it is mature enough for you to go back to work and live in your country, then it is time to move back to your country as you wish. Good luck to you and be happy, dear friend.

I can fully understand that you want to go home. It's the land you grew up in. However, personally, I don't think right now is the right time, especially since you also have kids to think about. Although it may seem to be safer now, it may not stay that way. The current 'quiet' may just be the eye of the storm so to speak. Whoever is still doing the fighting may just stay quiet right now to gather up some reserves in order to strike big time. You just never know. And what if the US troops leave? Will others take advantage of that? Not just from within the country but also from countries surrounding Iraq such as Iran? Frankly, right now the situation still has too many uncertainties. I would not drag kids into this. I would keep them where they are safe.

Well, my dear friend you are right about all what you have say above, but my wife was there for a month and she said it is good then before we leave, and yes I would not put my kids in dangerous again, I just want to go back and see if I could live there with some peace, and if something happen and get worse I can take my kids and return to Egypt again. I know there are some of adventure here, but I must do it to, I have to see my mother because of her health is not good now and I didn't see her for more than 2 years. Thank you for your response and have a good day.

I have no advice, but I'm glad moving back is an option for you. It must have been very difficult to leave so much behind, and I can definitely understand wanting to return. I would probably wait and see how the American elections turn out and see what occurs or is planned after January, because things could get a lot worse or a lot better in short order. It seems that your country is currently at the mercy of American politics and undergoing great change.

I'm so honored to have the opportunity to know someone like you who is actually from Iraq and therefore knows exactly what conditions are like there. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to have such things happens in one's own country and to be forced to leave for your own safety. Whatever you choose to do, I'll certainly pray for you and your family and I hope everything works out well for you. It's a strange feeling I have that I can't quite explain, we here in the U.S including Americans here on myLot love to discuss your country and what "WE" should do about it but it's you and your fellow Iraqis who are living it along with our troops and for all of you it will have a lasting effect, unlike most of us. Gee, I hope that makes some sense! What I'm trying to say is I'll leave politics out of this entirely and simply say I hope for the best for you and your family and I wish for a safe return to your beloved homeland. I hope some good comes out of all the pain and destruction that's gone on for everyone involved. Bless you! Annie
