i'm i really that bad?

i rather like that we all come from different walks of life. It is disappointing to me that i should have to hold my tongue, when their is so much we could learn from each other. i will try your method and see if that improves my rating. Thanks!

I'm just like that myself! I love a good constructive criticism argument and putting my often unusual views across. I've found that we rarely change people's minds though and the discussions can go sour so it's probably wiser to learn to hold our tongues. Please believe me that I find it very difficult sometimes though!

As I said we can make a new post about something if it's important to us to say something about it.

Thank you P1ke! i can honestly see reporting someone for abusive language (although i've never done this) but short of that i can't see why the neg. button is even offered. i'd like to think all opinions have value, and there is at least some truth to every side. Oh well. i guess my only options are to only answer and post discussions that don't cry out for a difference of opinion, or deal with the consequences. It just killed me that i regained a 7 for a day then lost it again.

Be yourself and don't fret. For goodness sake don't go all sweet and sugary on us please. I have never rated anybody positive or negative since the day I started here. I didn't even know that I could until I'd been here three months and after that there didn't seem much point in rating. I have reported a discussions once, and hold on to your hat, a pornographic photograph once. I can tell you is that whilst I don't always agree with everything that I see here, and have had run ins with a few; it's the sheer joy of receiving good responses and the friends that often post them, that make it all worthwhile.

Ahhh, P1ke, your good for grounding a girl! Really i'd be quite hypocritical to pretend to be a little goodie two shoes. And where but mylot could i voice my opinion anyway? i guess i'll take it like it comes. It's not like i'm not used to abuse anyway!

Good point, i guess if i want to talk to someone who will always share my opinion i should sit in front of a mirror... oh no that wouldn't work either, because as new information is presented i can change my opinion. Hmmm. Anyhow, i really do like the give and take here. i wonder though, where are all the people who took time out of their schedules to neg. rate me today? Are they not literate enough to type a response about their opinion of me? (Yes, that was an attempt to get them to speak up... think it will work?)

You know since I freed myself from the tyranny of that damn star, I've been enjoying myself so much more than ever before. It's more like it was two years ago when I first came to Mylot and there was this gloriously free exchange of ideas. It wasn't always pretty but it was always interesting.

Heee heee, well i wasn't about to lose sleep or anything over it! At the end of the day my tummy is fed and i have a comfy bed to sleep in...i guess i should just let negative people bring it on. i can always shut down the laptop for awhile and enjoy all the positives in my life!

i have to agree with you, Irish. Wouldn't be nice if people could just agree to disagree and move on with their day? i know i can't change the world. Frankly i wouldn't want to. Wouldn't it be a boring place to live if there was no diversity? BTW i love that new pic of yours. Now i'm going to go see if i can't get my kitty to get off her fat bummy and work out. (really i know there is no chance of it.):p

i agree! Most people came here originally to make a little extra cash and if they get disheartened early we all kinda lose out. i'd rather see an interesting discussion get going and we can all profit!

Awww, thank you! i'm trying to focus on quality responses rather than the opinions of the masses. Everyone has a different stand, based on personal experiences or culture, or what have you... i get that. i've "met" some really great people on mylot, some who share my views, some who don't. i'll keep at it. ljegbers, i understand people not sharing my opinion, but i guess it is the trolling that gets me. i don't think i was abusive to anyone in the thread you mention, yet there were quite a few people abusive to me. i can completely understand being flagged for abuse, ( although i have yet to report anyone) but it seems silly to enable any shmo the ability to rate someone negatively for no other reason than they don't share your opinion. i agree this is a flaw in mylot.
hatley Do you know what mylot did about the trolling? Where the offending parties banned? i wonder if it is worth my time to have it looked into or whether i should just grow a thick skin.

From what I understand, if send admin a message they can track back who is doing what. I don't know what kind of action is taken, but I know a few people that have gotten results from this.

Hatley - I don't think starting discussions in protest will do any good. I think that if someone directly contacts admin, then it can be tracked back to who is doing what. I was told this can be done with ratings as well as putting tags on discussions.

i'm glad to hear it! That is, what i thought, mylot was about. i'll keep plugging away at posting, maybe some day i'll be able to use some of those nifty features. i hope i bump into you again, i'd love to here your opinions!

Thats a good attitude! Actually, since posting this thread and reading the responses, i am not so upset. It seems very good people have suffered the same fate of the rating system. i guess misery loves company, it just doesn't sting so much to know i'm not alone.

Hehe. Your sporting a pretty star yourself! Maybe that is why they put it there...so far that is the most practical explanation that i have been given! It did get me to post a new discussion which i haven't in months, so i guess it serves a purpose.:p
