I don't know about infidelity but my and my husband split for about 1 year and then we got back together and had our daughter and then got married. We've been back together for 2 years and married 1 and we have another baby. We are so happy with our big family so yes i would have to say that some relationships can work the second time around.

Almost never does a relationship work the second time around if the breakup was due to infidelity. Look at the people in your life who have tried. How many worked?The problem is the phrase " almost never ". Rarely, it does.
You might try to find a support group for people in your situation. My sister had this exact problem. She joined a Christian group for divorced people because of infidelity. It was a locally sponsored group where she lived.
She found that talking with a group of people who had gone through the exact same thing to be very enlightening.
One of the things she learned is that cheating spouses tend to be very deceptive people (no surprise, yet) and that deceptive people tend seek out previous victims under the theory that, " I fooled them once, I can fool them again. ".
If you try this reconcillation, remember, you set the rules and you are absolutely the BOSS when it goes to how the relationship is going to work. If the other person is not agreeable to allowing something like 5 years of them proving themselves while you have complete control, they almost certainly are not serious.
