It may be out of your expectation and you may not like hearing it as it's a little bit terrible. However, it is indeed the most expensive coffee in the world. This poo coffee is USD50 for a cup. This kind of coffee called Kopi Luwak coffee. The Kopi Luwak is a cat that climbs through the coffee trees, picks and eats only the ripest coffee cherries and eats them. The coffee bean passes through the digestive track and is pooped out…. The bean is then collected by people wandering through the forest, and its shipped fresh to you! The digestive acids are said to soften the flavor of the bean, reducing bitterness. (All the grossness is burnt off in roasting.) I think I will never drink such kind of coffee. A cup of instant coffee will be good enough for me

I first heard about this a couple years ago now - and it was terribly gross to me. I then was reminded about it when I watched "the bucket list" last week. Things like this make me wonder how in the world or WHY in the world did that first person feel compelled to try such a thing.

I must put sugar into my coffee because I don't like the bitter taste

If the gross stuff is burnt off in the roasting process that's just great. I don't see any harm in it, however, there's no way in hell I'd want to pay $50 USD for a cup of coffee. The cost alone, would deter me from drinking that stuff.

I love coffee too... but i rarely drink it now... since i found out that too much caffeine can trigger my hives... but no matter what... i think i will pass on that sort of coffee... it is bad enough that i love bird's nest soup... but cat's poo coffee is hitting below the belt...

Reminds me of the coffee Guano. Hope I get the spelling correct. It is actually the undigested beans passed out from bats who eat the coffee berries. It is worth its weight in gold! I heard of Coffee Luwark before. Never tasted them before. Don't intend to either. The thought of it is like... eww~~~~

But what I learned is this kind of coffee is not from the bats.

There are a few kinds in the market. The one from the night cat, Luwark is just one of them. The other is the one from the bats. Both are worth its weight in gold! Crazy people who could not find anything else to drink. So they start to drink droppings. That is my opinion anyways.

Hi youless! Yes, I know of those kind of cats and they are called civet cats. We have them here our country and they are endangered species. They eat coffee beans and when they excrete the beans, those beans become very expensive. Early this year, a good friend of ours gave my husband a very special gift which was a civet cat. My husband loves taking care of exotic animals but then the civet cat (we named her Yvette) was so sickly that even our vet was not able to save her. We just had her for more than a month. Sigh! Take care always..God Bless!

I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps the civet cat can't adjust to live as well as the pets' livings. They want to live in the nature so that the food will be right for them.

Uuwaee.. ehh.... that which had come out the undigested from cat.. turning to be a digestive food! This reminds me an incident, approximately one year back,.. in a near by village of my town, people sold " Donkey milk" one cup costing Rs 50/- ( approx one dollar) at the time when the "chicken kuniya" was spreading. They spread rumors, that the milk contained " effective enzymes" to control the chicken kuniya,..and people were so crazy in having this milk, than going to see a doctor for a preventive measure..
