Six year old boy has a fascination with buses.

I dont just mean collecting toy buses but he is able to recite the bus timetable from memory. His nan will ring up asking what bus will take her to certain places and he will tell them all as he knows all the routes.
For his sixth birthday he had a tour of a local bus depot. He was allowed to sit in the driving seat of a Enviro 200 and had a ride through Chichester, South Tyneside courtesy of the stagecoach North east staff.
Of course when he grows up he wants to be a bus driver or failing that own his own bus company!!
Have your children ever had a fascination about anything?? Did they grow out of it?? What did you do to encourage/discourage your child about their fascination??

I wanted to be a bus conductor when I was a little girl…I would have this huge collection of bus tickets and adults would actually have to hand over the ticket otherwise they would have a tough time entering the house. I would climb up to the window sill pretending it to the stairs of the bus and then hang on from one of the iron bars while on the other hand I held on to my priceless collection and shout the various routes. I would also make all sorts of funny sounds like honking of horns and vroooooooooom!
My son has no particular fascination though.
Have you tried anything else with your child? I mean I feel that he is gifted with the most amazing memory, so see if he can memorize other things as well.

Oops, sorry!
No, I did not become an actual bus conductor, I am a back-office assistant now.

Wonderful! My one son loves fire trucks and trains, and the other preferred big construction trucks! My daughter loved animals! All kids love different things!
Encourage him to be an individual and explore life. It is wonderful!

He's not my child, I read it in the newspaper and thought that it would be a nice story to share with others. Its nice to hear happy stories in the paper as they are normal bad or sad news!!
I think most boys like fire engines and construction toys and girls like animals!! If my child (when I have them) showed an interest into something I would encourage them. Being a nursery nurse its great to encourage child in the different aspects of development!!
Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting x

It is not very often anymore that I hear of kids like this. When I was a kid I had a photographic memory and I only had to look at something once and I would know it off by heart. I was never encouraged in this though really and as I grew older it faded.
None of my children have anything that they are really into at all, I always try to encourage them to take interests in things but nothing happens! Of course if they ever do show an interest in anything, I shall be encouraging them in it!
